i will honestly miss him, he was a great musical artist.....
Did you know him personally? If so, then I'm sorry for your loss. If not, you do realize that there will be absolutely no impact on you? You can still listen to all his music just the same, no reason to miss him.

Bands and singers have always seemed so surreal and inhuman to me. Starting to go to concerts (Rise Against, Puddle of Mudd, to name two) helped a bit, but I still doubt I could truly care if someone died. Like T-Bag from Pure Pwnage, the only thing that bothered me was that they haven't released an episode for half a year now since his death!

he was an amazing singer, and its sad that he's gone but in all brutal honesty I'm getting rather sick and tired of the news about his death.

Yes! We get it, he's dead! no need to mention every single little quip about it, show respect towards the star by taking the spotlight away from him and his family so they can mourn in peace!

honestly, the only thing I've heard all day is stuff to do with MJ... it does get a little tiring after a while.

cudos on breaking the internet though

My friends at school were checking Facebook on their phone, and not a single thing they saw didn't mention Michael Jackson. So yeah, this doesn't surprise me.

But google? Wow, that's quite a feat.

No, because outside the US nobody cares about the guy, whereas good ol MJ was a huge star back then, all around the world.

I wonder what would've happened if we had the internets when Elvis died... Google would've went up in a mushroom cloud, heheh :)

lol, god help us when someone REALLY popular dies. It'll probably cause every connected computer to explode or something.
Maybe not so much now, but in many ways, Jackson was *the* defining figure of the '80s.
People can crack jokes, but at the end of the day everyone knew who Michael Jackson was. He was the most well known and popular person on the planet, and this is fact.

Incorrect. There were enough people who were overjoyed like it was their own president over in britain.

Now that's a standing achievement to remember.

The internet has a weakness!
This was actually a pretty well established fact even before now. Really though, the whole thing badly needs an upgrade at the backbone.

To add to your point, in Australia, Obama's approval rating was consistently 75% around his election time. You just can't get that for our Prime Ministers. They've never had such a victory, and having such a rating even for a short while is extremely rare. The fact is, the world loves the man.

OH MY GOD M.J. BROKE THE INTERWEBS.

I cannot wait for the next celebrity like him to die. Might put the final stake through twitter.

what I don't understand is why people tweeted it I mean it's not like their news reporters it has nothing to do with them. maybe they thought they were breaking news onto twitter no one heard of? what the heck

Strange. I didn't notice the slow down and I was on the net pretty much from 3pm CST, when he was pronounced dead, until 8pm.

Who would be more popular than Michael Jackson?

I care about Obama. In fact I care about him more than our leader.
Yeah probably. Or if they had the internet back when Jesus was around ;D

But why?

Not in regards of caring about him, but rather caring about him more than your own government. That seems rather absurd.

It does, until you remember that all we hear of our government at the moment is how much money they took from taxes to repair the roofs of their houses and other shit, whereas Obama is in charge of one of the world's most powerful countries and is a highly intelligent man. When my government stops dicking about, then I'll start caring again.

Umm...our government takes our money for dumb things too, ya know. 25% of my check gets taken every payday, and I don't even make that much money in a year.

So? It's still a valid reason to temporarily stop giving a shit, this isn't a competition.
And I don't remember hearing anything about Americas government taking money from taxes to pay for:
Sofas and chairs, a microwave, cleaning a swimming pool, Christmas tree decorations, a bicycle, a computer, pot plants, an LCD TV, a DVD player, a vacuum cleaner, a house for somebody's ducks...

The list goes on.

I'm not trying to make it a competition, I'm just saying our government is just as screwed up as everyone elses, with or without Obama.

Have you seen pictures of government offices in America? I wish I could live so good. And the stimulus money...$1.3mil is going to stablize a bridge that is going to be torn down anyways...nuff said.
