I will say I got Child of Eden last night, and it's the funnest game I've played in a long time. The control are way smoother than anything to date with the Kinect, and the soundtrack is killer once you figure out how to play the game.

What is it with Japanese companies and their refusal to give a tutorial? I mean this type of game has literally NEVER existed before them, and they still only give you a 3 second tutorial WHILE you're getting pelted in the first level!

Biased statement is biased. You'd think that a company that makes motion controlers would be more perceptive to gamers' input.

Oh yes! We all love Kinect!!!! We love to play it with the whole happy family!

In fact, I love it so much that I bought four of them, one for each of my limbs!

Whilst I think there were a few people saying "We'd like some Kinect stuff in games" there was definitely an equal amount in the opposing camp saying "Kinect is lame."

But then again, a lot of people have been saying Kinect needs some core support, as opposed to just party games, which is fair enough really. Personally I think controlling your squad in ME3 with voice commands looks quite cool, but I realise I'm probably in a minority there.
Yeah, but that isn't exactly new, SOCOM did it, and you could play the entirity of End War with only voice commands. Why use Kinect when you only need a mic?

OT: I don't mind Kinect, but it definitely needs more support and decent games. I think it suffers from a lack of buttons, personaly, but it was fun when we had a bunch of drunken friends playing it at a party. But for what it is at the moment, it's not worth £100.

I'm not opposed to it, but if Microsoft think I'm gonna shell out for a peripheral that boasts no appealing titles whatsoever, they've got another thing coming.

Once they start to use its potential for something impressive and worth playing, then I'll consider it.

I wouldn't say I "hated" the Kinect. It just doesn't suit my tastes. I've no problem with it's existence, I can see the appeal for other people, and I'm outright impressed with some of the uses it's been put to.

Doesn't mean I'd buy one, or consider it for gaming.

I don't believe him. The response when ME3 was rumored to have Kinect support wasn't joyful, it was full of horror and anger. The majority of core gamers wanting the Kinect in all genres? Logan, I wouldn't really believe that. The creative director of a product that the company is pushing isn't going to say anything but positive things about his product.
Agreed. Also - anyone who has ever played with that voice activated Mario Party peripheral Nintendo did on the GC will realize what a stupid idea it is to include it in ME3.

Wait, I thought it was basically just a REZ sequel? Is there more to it?

As long as they make something a little more....revolutionary as this:

I'm all up for potential and the genius that might be uncovered with Kinect gaming.
But they'd have to do better then this.

Kinect is fun for dancing games and nothing else... Is that supposed to mae "core" gamers happy?

It's the greatest example of that you can sell anything with enough marketing.

Microsoft also said that Vista was a good OS, that there wouldn't be any problems with the Xbox 360, and that the Zune would be bigger than the iPod...

This reminds me of the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf".

He's just trying to play the PR guy. I think he really doesn't like it, but he has to say he does to keep up Microsoft's stocks

Hatred is probably a strong word but far, far from excitement.

After having experimented with the Wii its a big case of 'yup, that won't be useful for any game I want to play'.

Yeah...no. Sorry, but every demo of the bloody thing I've ever seen has not convinced me that Kinect is not a worthless, inaccurate, laggy piece of crap.

While motion controls look cool from the outside, there's only so much you can communicate with your body to a 3D camera before a SNES controller is superior. I appreciate the intergration into Mass Effect, I'm sure £99 for a microphone for your games is quite rediculous. (Anyone want to link similar/more expensive microphones that you can plug into a 360?)

All I'm seeing there is a rail shooter with a light saber, and a rail shooter is effectively what SOCOM4 had to boil down to to accomodate Move. We've got light guns for those.

but that could be achieved with a headset, could it not?
Or better yet, with a button press. I'll be honest; I haven't used a Kinect before, but as far as I can see it's only real uses are for party/children's games and gimics, like ME's squad commands or voice controlled dashboard. It seems to me like Kinect should have been on a console on it's own, it would have cut out it's unnecessary inclusion in games it's clearly not designed for. Or they could have just not bothered at all.

Edit: Reading more of the comments, I'm suddenly reminded of all forum posts I read about the other two motion controllers that came out not long ago. It seems nearly everyone has the same opinion on this as well. In other words: for the past 5 years the internet has been like a broken record.
