He's just trying to play the PR guy. I think he really doesn't like it, but he has to say he does to keep up Microsoft's stocks
All I'm seeing there is a rail shooter with a light saber, and a rail shooter is effectively what SOCOM4 had to boil down to to accomodate Move. We've got light guns for those.Ranorak said:As long as they make something a little more....revolutionary as this:
Or better yet, with a button press. I'll be honest; I haven't used a Kinect before, but as far as I can see it's only real uses are for party/children's games and gimics, like ME's squad commands or voice controlled dashboard. It seems to me like Kinect should have been on a console on it's own, it would have cut out it's unnecessary inclusion in games it's clearly not designed for. Or they could have just not bothered at all.SH4DOWSL4Y3R said:but that could be achieved with a headset, could it not?LavaLampBamboo said:Personally I think controlling your squad in ME3 with voice commands looks quite cool, but I realise I'm probably in a minority there.
Exactly, it's a rail-saber game.Bob_F_It said:All I'm seeing there is a rail shooter with a light saber, and a rail shooter is effectively what SOCOM4 had to boil down to to accomodate Move. Please tell me that was NOT a Trade Federation main battle tank fighting alongside the stormtroopers on Naboo? Please? Somebody?! (Edit edit: Nope that was definetely a droid starfighter at the beginning. Microsoft, we need to talk.....)Ranorak said:As long as they make something a little more....revolutionary as this:
I'm all up for potential and the genius that might be uncovered with Kinect gaming.
But they'd have to do better then this.
I feel the same way. The Kinect is an impressive piece of hardware, but that doesn't mean I want to play games that involve jumping around waving my arms about.9thRequiem said:I wouldn't say I "hated" the Kinect. It just doesn't suit my tastes. I've no problem with it's existence, I can see the appeal for other people, and I'm outright impressed with some of the uses it's been put to.
Doesn't mean I'd buy one, or consider it for gaming.
Actually, the game is not on rails. Oh, it is really linear, but the player actually controls where he/she moves. I thought it was strange that Microsoft did not make it clear that this was not an on rails game. They did the same thing with the Fable: the Journey demo. That was only an on rails segment to a game where the player controls where they are going in the world. Microsoft should have made this clear during the press conference.Ranorak said:Exactly, it's a rail-saber game.Bob_F_It said:All I'm seeing there is a rail shooter with a light saber, and a rail shooter is effectively what SOCOM4 had to boil down to to accomodate Move. AKA the only input you have is swinging a light saber.
The storm troopers walk towards you like Lemmings, just waiting to get hit.
I always wondered how they were going to integrate walking into the games.
Nintendo still had it's control stick, but I do wonder how Kintect is going to register strafing to the left while you're shooting at a enemy.
Or do we all have to learn to do the moonwalk?
