How about instead they just release one game every few years that is actually balanced?

So...who would you fight in the new Halo game? Flood is beaten (for the time being) and the Covennent is destroyed. M.C. and Cortana are MIA, and the world is finally settling back down. Oh! Can we make the next game about Kelly and the other Spartans trapped on Onyx? PLEASE? That storyline is killing me. Someone needs to wrap it up. Maybe find John on their way back to Earth...?

Good thing I've put Halo to rest. Bungie's gone, so I'm gone. Not that they can't do good work, just that I've been a huge fan of this series but it's time to move on.

There is a simple reason for this:

COD games are churned out every year and while they may be good solid games, there is hardly any innovation and they have absolutely zero soul.

Halo games are developed by a single company who believes in their product. They take time and care making it, listening to the fans and although even after 3 years it may not be perfect, it has all the marks of a game made by a group of people highly dedicated to the game and the world it is set in.

So yeah... shut up Microsoft. There's a reason Halo is so damned popular. Don't turn it into bloody COD.

No, just no, Microsoft. Halo's done for now, put it in a box and store it away. Maybe in another 5-10 years you can make another one but as for now the only halo game that could still be made without being unnescessary is a second Halo Wars. I loved the Halo series and I would hate to see it go the way of the Star Wars movies: unneeded sequals that detract from the quality of the series as a whole.
You're forgetting this is Microsoft you're asking this of. For them $ > quality!

this is why games should never trade developers >_>

The group that gave birth to the idea have one vision in mind, but another group can have an entirely different dream.

The percentage of players who are playing Reach that were I'll say not old enough to play Halo 1 at the time.
From my multiplayer experience, I'm sure he's not referring to people who were too young to purchase Halo: Combat Evolved, but instead to those who had not yet been born.

No, what's different about Halo isn't the story or whatever you were on about. The difference is that Activision had Treyarch and Infinity Ward working on Call of Duty, so it was actually possible to put out a game every year.

If that guy doesn't realize that, he's a fucking idiot.

Because this release schedule has fucked over a promising franchise? I understand that the ultimate goal of any company is to make money but have mercy. Seriously.

As others have stated, Call of Duty can get away with such a release schedule because of the dual-development. With 343 studios alone bearing the brunt, a quality yearly release is not feasible without some bitter compromises. They would be worked like dogs, and the consumers get a product that has not been given full attention and most likely will just be an update of the previous game.

Putting Halo on a short-cycled assembly line would just draw attention to Microsoft milking the hell out of the license without the original quality. Honestly Microsoft, why not try being creative for a change and come up with another IP? The Xbox can't stay afloat only on Halo, Fable, Gears, and Halo.

I've always kind of viewed Bungie like I see Blizzard--they take time to make the best damn game they could. It seems to me the only time that didn't happen was when Microsoft started jumping on their backs.

Every time I bought a Halo game, it felt like an investment, since I knew Bungie would stick around and make sure everything ran smoothly and stayed fresh with updates/balances etc. 343 Industries has to prove that to me; I got turned off by the CoD series when they released MW2--all those glitches made it unplayable, and I get the feeling that the "patch" is simply going to be Black Ops.

...Its because, CoD is a magnet for lil kids, stoners, and people who like to throw money around...and they will keep doing it to link the execs. pockets

How is Halo not balanced now?
It is balanced but a certain game that follows the "One installment every year" model hasn't had an incredible track record on that front with their last installment.

I will say I think one Halo game every three years -- which was kind of our old cadence - is probably not frequent enough.
Yeah, not frequent enough for you to make more money.

Well Halo Reach is said to be the last in the series from Bungie, so it looks like we won't have another for a while which is a shame, I prefer Halo to COD.
