Games for Windows Live always used my xbox gamertag. It was one of the (many) annoying bits about the service, since I couldn't play two completely unrelated games at the same time, due to both demanding (on different mediums) to access my account.
Yeah, I know. I'm always trying to play 360 and PC at the same time, but I can't because I can't sign in to Live from both places at once. Also more importantly, I only have two hands, so I can't work a controller and keyboard + mouse simultaneously. So I guess it doesn't even matter that I can't sign into Live on my 360 and PC at the same time anyway because it's impossible to play both at the same time.
Seriously, the completely nonsensical arguments people will come up with to hate on something by Microsoft. Ridiculous. GWFL isn't the best thing ever, but my god people.
Actually, not being able to physically play both at the same time, doesnt exclude doing things like trying to run multiple games making use of things like the pause button.
I have times when Im playing an xbox game, and am invited to play something else on the PC by a friend, so simply press pause and go do so, revisiting it when time permits. I've had times when I've lost entire play sessions in games like Mass Effect because I havent given a second thought to the fact that a PC game might want to access my XBL account. And the moment it automatically logs in on the PC, it logs off the xbox. And if you know how the system works, that results in immediately dropping whatever you were playing, in a hard quit to menu fashion.
I've also been known to play arcade titles during load times, as well as messing about with computer games during looking for sessions on XBL. So just because -you- dont see a eventuality where you dont do more then one thing at a time, doesnt mean it should be outright dismissed as ridiculous hating on MS.
So yeah, just because it doesnt affect you, dont claim its a bullshit hate on MS, because I enjoy my xbox, I just dislike having that same -paid- account unavailable because Im using a -free- windows service.
Also if you want to throw some 'Do one thing at once then, problem solved' bullshit at me, I'll present it a different way for you -
Im playing a PC game. My little brother, who isnt allowed to have his own XBL account (because they cost money) wants to play some xbox online, and knows Im not playing it, because Im on the computer. When he asks me if he can play, I have to tell him no, because my paid XBL Gold membership, is being used by a free windows service, so he cannot play.
Making me tie up my PAID SERVICE with a free service, which then prevents me from using the paid service, is not good business. And to anyone who says 'Just make a different account on GFWL, duh' The games are already tied to it, since this is the kind of detail you find after setting it all up. And, pretty sure windows wants your msn emails anyway, which xbl also prefers.
