I like the avatars the way they are, except for the creepy asexual hip-holding pose that they do, regardless of your gender. My male avatar stands a bit, uh, strange.
I'm not trying to be sexist, at all, I just don't make a habit of cocking my hip or doing a pirouette when I'm happy.

i can see where they're coming from
the more joints the avatar has, they more fluid their movement,
makes sense to spruce up the faces while you're at it
however, I don't want an EXACT replica of me, especially when I'm creating one of the more... bizarre avatars.

It must be big difficulties trying to make them perform right with Natal.(i like this name better than "Kinect")
I really hope that it doesn't mean i have to redo my avatar, because that took a few weeks to get to look like me. And the hair still isn't long enough

Ugh, I hated being forced to bother with some stupid virtual doll that I was never, and have never used. I often wonder if it was less to do with copying Nintendo and more about finding another way to drain people of MS points on something worse than wallpapers.
I liked my 360 better before it had an identity crisis, microsoft. I'm only thankful that my 360 hasn't gone through the team Jacob vs team Edward crisis yet.
Thanks. I knew something was wrong with that picture, because that's not what the dashboard looks like currently, and they didn't say anything about changing that (beyond adding the new Kinect version where you navigate with your hands).JEBWrench said:
Sadly that means that using that picture for this article is misleading. Find something else, or just not have a picture, but please Escapist editors/whoever, get rid of the one that's on there now.

I couldn't care less about xbox avatars to be honest. I just want to point out that they probably won't stray too far from the cartoony look (If they're smart) as the reason for the cartoony look in the first place is ease of use. The point of the avatars for most people is to make one that looks like them, which is easy when all you're dealing with is simple shapes. But the more realistic the style the more difficult this becomes and the more complex the creation tools have to be. This is really not good for the average user as most people don't have that good a grasp of human anatomy and facial structure, making it pretty much impossible to get something that looks like yourself. And that's with good creation tools, if the tools don't measure up then you have no chance unless you happen to be Joe Everyman. so we're probably looking at something more along the lines of proportion adjustment. Or, maybe they're just not very smart.
