Hey, remember all that PC love Microsoft promised us?

Remember how that ended?
What love??? Especially with the first line of that article. ^^

As it was PC gamer money that allowed them to do this in the first place, but do they show us love? Hell no they don't...

Didn't they say 2011 was all about Kinect? That's not exactly 'core'. I'll just patiently wait and see what Rockstar has up it's sleeve, and enjoy my backlog when the shovelware storm comes a-blowin'.
Halo is a core game, hmmm, maybe they can have core and Kinect?

Halo Sports anyone?

Grunt bowling.

Brute boxing.

Jackal Javelin Throwing.

Sticky Grenade Tennis (Don't ask me how that will work).

Halo golf on all the Halo rings' finest golf courses.

Sounds like fun to me.
You had me at Grunt Bowling :D

considering 'core gamers' to microsoft is now screamy children....and their idea of appealing to them is continuing franchises that are more than dried up....

halo is done and ill bet gears 3 will start to bring that 'not much else to add to the series' feel to it. if microsoft gave a toss about core gamers, all they have to do is sit back and let developers do their damn job, instead of demanding they churn out yet another of the endless barrage of online shooter franchises. my 360 gathers dust while im at my PC playing warcraft 3 again... and it will stay that way until bioshock infinite is out, because nothing else last year or this has compared to a 10yr-old RTS. meddle with kinect games all you want, let bungie make a sequel to ONI, and stay out of development if you actually care. which you dont.

Since that isn't going to happen, core gamers have absolutely nothing to worry about....maybe. :p

Eh, it's not fun when suckers are born. Now, when those suckers realise that they are being suckered in...now that is when things start to get interesting. That is when the fire starts and it will be interesting to see if Microsoft will be able to contend with it. :p

Yes... no you abandoned us a decade ago... the only ones left are core gamers who live of brands and whatever modern media feeds them...

GFWL may be pretty crap, have around a 50% chance of working and put of most gamers by the mere mention of the name, but it is slowly updating.

Since I generally browse their marketplace a lot they have been steadily adding more games, GFWL and GFW. Plus one of the best points for me is all GFW games require no online access DRM.

I know I'm being a massive Microsoft fanboy... but still. I'm just that guy.
It's less GfWL and more "making pretty much every game they publish a 360 exclusive, even games with a PC version in previous games in the series (e.g. Halo 3, Gears of War 2) or cancelling a PC version of a game that's originally intended for PCs (e.g. Alan Wake)."

The fact that GfWL is widely regarded as rubbish doesn't help matters.

This is basically my problem now. Games for Windows Live has been improving, but it's not even close to catching up with Steam.

And I know it's almost a cliche by now, but I'm tired the 360 exclusives with no hopes for PC getting the same treatment. Looking at you Gears of War 2-3, Halo 3, Fable 2, etc etc.

The Kinect development kits have only been out less than 2 years, that is very little turnaround time to have a AAA game be Kinect ready, unless they had developed the game and all they had to do was to reprogram it for the Kinect, and those decisions do not come at the end of a development cycles usually.

If they made a Dungeon Keeper 2/3 game for Kinect, I'd be soooo damn tempted to get one. Want to slap that imp so it reinforces walls faster? REACH INSIDE AND ACTUALLY SLAP IT. Damn, DO want.

I'm going to make another last ditch fanboy attempt... I don't entirely think that it's all Microsofts fault for the lack of ported PC games.

Alan Wake suffered from poor sales, it was a great game, just didn't sell that well and the developer has just as much of a role to play in whether there is a PC version as the publisher.

Sure I agree that the lack of Halo is disturbing... I've heard rumours of a fan made modded port but I don't know how true they are... but other games such as Gears of War 2, the main reason for that never getting ported seems to be that Epic thinks all PC gamers are a bunch of pirates.

Still I don't know the inner workings... so maybe Microsoft is secretly plotting the downfall of PC gaming by releasing a service that only works %50 of the time and doesn't have much of a selection.

What they didn't abandon the PC crowd. PC just doesn't get all the games or dlc that the 360 gets.
Concentrating 90% of their efforts on 360 development is pretty much the same thing as abandoning the PC market.
I know, I forgot to put the "/sarcasm" marker in there.
I guess all this announcement means is that they'll be concentrating 90% of their efforts into the kinect.

Microsoft was NEVER on the ball with "Core Gamers" as far as I'm concerned.
The original reason to own an Xbox was Halo, and I don't give a flying fuck about Halo.
Most of the game I enjoy on 360 are actually from the XBLA, and their exclusivity status is quickly dwindling.

I hope it becomes more common, since it is a step in the right direction if we actually want to forward the possibilities for gaming. I certainly don't want to be using a controller for the rest of my life.

Besides when I get the money I will be buying a new 250GB 360 with a Kinect. Then I will transfer everything over from my Elite perfectly, after I deal with Microsoft's hassles when it comes to transfering digital download content.

That is exactly what I thought when I read this. It's like telling a girl you just broke up with that you want to "still be friends" knowing full well that you never want to see her ever again.

Well microsoft have kind of done this before. They even said the same thing "We won't give up on PC gaming" now they are saying the same about core gaming on consoles. Why would they even have to say that.

When PC gaming turned out to be too much like hard work and they realised could make more money with consoles they have neglected them more and more ever since. Now Steam and so many others have filled that void that those burnt bridges can likely never be rebuilt.

Don't think it is impossible that they will do the same again, if MS thinks they can make more money focusing on Kinect casual then there is a very good chance they will.

Kinect has sold 8 million in only 2 months... THIS could be the Halo killer, but no in the way halo fans are hoping for.
