Well of course. Whatever they did or didn't do wrong from E3 up to now, they've always had a secret weapon up their sleeve that assures they'll beat Sony at launch.

you got Preggle 2? prfff we got Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 15, The Elder Scrolls Online, Diablo III, Killzone Shadow Fall and Infamous: Second Son, yyyyeeeaah The XBone and Microsoft is fucked

The first impression I got of the Xbox One games was that gameplay video of Ryse...and it looked rather unimpressive from a gameplay standpoint. Second impression was the article that Killer Instict was going to be Free To Play! Woo-Hoo! Wait, they're making the game entirely based off of macro-micro transactions, having to shell out $5 to unlock more than one fighter? Wow...that....that's just awful....

I hope/doubt that other games would be like that...imagine a football game where you have to pay to unlock plays and teams, a racing game where you have to pay to unlock cars, or a shooter where you have to pay to unlock guns and equipment...

Beyond all that, though, I'm hardly impressed with the line-up in general. But that's just me saying that the majority of those games I really couldn't care less about. So eh, personal taste and all that. I won't hate on the guy for saying "Best Launch Library In History" because he's just trying to up-sell his product like a good little marketer. Can you imagine the way Don Mattrick would have made this announcement? "If you don't like our launch library, fuck you. Stick to the 360 you plebian bastards."

This... is a joke, right? Oh, yeah, it's Microsoft.

I counted maybe seven games I would consider "hardcore" games. Counting out shovelware, Kinect titles, ect. there isn't much there. Out of all thoe games, many are multi platform, and will feature on the PS4. Furthremore, a lot of those games have been getting truly awful press (Dead Rising). Ryse looks like Quick Time Event: the game, without any narrative focus to keep it interesting, like in The Walking Dead. I would consider purchasing, perhaps, three of those titles when they went down in price. None of them are compelling. No Microsoft. Just no.

Well at least with this public statement for once MS succeeded in doing no real harm. Even if the statement is horribly disingenuous. let's be honest. Both the PS4 and the XBox 180 will have the best launch list ever... because they are essentially PC's. They will have pretty much the SAME launch list barring a few token exclusives. (Oh boy which generic space shooter fps do you want?).

And right now, those that signed on to make an exclusive launch title for MS have got to be a little bit concerned at all of the controversies and weirdly bad publicity that MS has been generating around the system. Remember developers NEVER EVER want to be the ones making launch titles for new consoles. They lose a metric crapton of potential customers and profit because the installed user base for the console has not ramped up yet. And by the time it has their game is no longer the new shiny. They buffer this by spreading the game around several systems. Both well installed and new. Now in order to make an exclusive somebody needs to be subsidizing them. But often it is not enough if the console sales projections are not anywhere near what was expected. Yeah, the XBox may be sold out preorder on Amazon... but who here honestly thinks that it will be the dominating "must have system" that anyone would have predicted it would be 6 months ago? Initial sales while probably good, will easily be half what they were predicted to be earlier in the year after all of the outrage. And that is a lousy thing for the developers as their subsidy was probably calculated based on those earlier estimates.

I see nothing there to make me reconsider not getting an XBone. Guess that means more Burgers and Pizza for me around launch time :3

Most of those games are going to be on other consoles (many including this gen) and a bunch of them are Kinect shovelware shit. The only exclusives are either things I don't care about or things that are only console exclusive and are still available on PC.

Well I'm sorry Mr. Harrison but I'm going to have to disagree with your sentiment. You've still not sold me on a console that is less powerful than it's rival, more expensive, comes with a stupid peripheral I couldn't give the slightest shit about[footnote]Yes I know I can unplug the thing, but I still have to pay £80 for something I don't even want and will never use.[/footnote], gates services that are free elsewhere behind a paywall and will most likely bombard me with ads.

And yeah you overturned most of the shittier aspects, but the fact you even tried to take my rights as a consumer away is still a bitter pill to swallow.

I'll be getting a gaming PC, hopefully in the next month or so, and then come early next year I'll pick up a PS4 and a Wii U and be all set for Gen 8. I just don't see any room for an Xbone in that equation right now or for the foreseeable future.

The controller's pretty slick though.

Both PS4 and XB1 have a poor lineup. Take out those that are going to be released on current gen and there is only 3 or 4 titles. Even then that depends on you liking fps and driving games. Alot of the interesting games i can get on 360/PS3 - AC4, Lego and Watchdogs. Only game i would get as a XB1 title is Forza 5, but i can wait till next year for next gen.

Maybe I'm really old, but it seems like someone claims this every generation and the launch of nearly every console seems to really suck, unless it's a Nintendo console with a killer 1st party game. Even then, it's usually ONE good game.

The problem with the xbone is that, while they have a number of games on launch, I don't want to play any of them.

Even the original Xbox had better launch titles, and I didn't buy one of them at all.

Hell, let's look at the gamecube which everyone seems to mark as a failure for Nintendo:

All-Star Baseball 2002
Batman: Vengeance
Crazy Taxi
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2
Disney's Tarzan Untamed
Luigi's Mansion
Madden NFL 2002
NHL Hitz 20-02
SSX Tricky
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Super Monkey Ball
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Wave Race: Blue Storm

Crazy Taxi, Luigi's Mansion, SSX Tricky, Super Monkey Ball, Rogue Squadron 2 and Tony Hawk 3 were all actually pretty good games (to me), and I remember them all very fondly. They weren't PERFECT but it rocks the ever loving hell out of this launch lineup.

so many of the games in the "best launch line up" have a number after their name how can it be the "best launch line up" if its riding on the back of games from previous generations?.

Um, for me, most of my friends, and my relatives that play video games and have since the Atari days...this is one of the worst line ups for both systems evern.

At least there is Kingdom hearts 3.

It's so bad I'm actually not going to buy a system at all this time...until more games come out.

The Ps4 at least has SOME games of the style I like at launch....and I may even break down and get one because of that.

I like platform games 3d or 2d...like ratchet and clank etc. My favorite genre is RPGs (and especially action RPGS) though...which are totally lacking in both systems other then KH 3.

I have a gaming PC...which is even now where I play most of my games. Other then KH 3 I don't see one game that calls out to me, and I'm not willing to shell out even $400 (+60 or so for the game), just to play KH 3.

That Knack game (platform game for Ps4)...could be ok...but I have like 20 other platform games like it waiting for me to play on my ps3/xbox 360 or PC already. I'm not in a rush.

I have dead rising 1 and 2...I've played maybe an hour of 1...and never even put 2 into my system. I have no desire to play 3.

This is, bar none (Even including systems like the Jaguar and Dreamcast) the worst lineup I have seen for gamers like me.

I guess it depends on taste, but.. those games are really not that amazing to me. The only one that I would actually buy is Watch Dogs and that's it, and I'm buying that for PC. So sorry sir, but those games have no amazing quality in them in my eyes. I guess it does fit Microsoft's current expectations though, just like the console. Tasteless and dead.

Let's break this down, shall we?

Third-Person Shooters
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (Ubisoft, Ubisoft)
Crimson Dragon (Grounding/Land Ho!, Microsoft Studios)
Dead Rising 3 (Capcom Vancouver, Microsoft)
Ryse: Son of Rome (Crytek, Microsoft Studios)
I wouldn't call those 3rd person shooters. More along the line of 3rd person action? Not sure. They do have shooting aspects, but not the primary focus. AC usually plays out like Hitman, which is like MSG or even Alpha Protocol. In the Dead rising games melee weapons are more plentiful and effective than projectile weapons (but not as fun as grenades, bombs, and vehicles.) That point aside I'm slightly interested in Dead Rising for the sandbox zombie killing. But upon seeing Dying Light my interest had again shifted. First person zombie fest vs 3rd person zombie fest; first person is often more thrilling and scary.

After looking at both lists, I wouldn't say "In History" is warranted. They should have done like Sony. Rather solid and safe releases. Action, FPS, Sports and Racing! I'm not seeing too much innovation between the two. Most of the games coming out are multi-platform. Their exclusives are fewer than the whole. If either system wants to dominate they need to make themselves different. I'll wait for more Indie games. Final note: where the are the RPGS? Yeah, I know games have RPG elements, but I want a fun on RPG with sweeping story and hours upon hours of gameplay and exploration.
I think it should be said, launch day should not have the best games out right away. Then you have nothing to look forward to later on. Sony has 20 first party games coming out in the first year of it coming out, and another 10 that are still currently in development. That's not to mention third party exclusives that should be coming out also, and they have said they have 180 games also in development for the PS4. Among all that, there should be a few good RPGs out there, though if you're into the Japanese ones, go for the PS4 on that, as it tends to get more JRPGs.
Yeah, Kingdom Hearts 3 and the new FF are on the way, but I hope to see other dark horse RPGs. Wild Arms was a nice change of pace when waiting for Square to deliver the goods. Wild west, magic, puzzles, and decent stories. Odin Sphere was also something I enjoyed; artful sidescrolling action. A modern themed game like Parasite eve would also be welcome. With all the games with RPG elements it's funny how few pure RPG are released. They like the grind, but not the turned based portions, the fetch quests, etc. Missing out on the exploration and encompassing storylines.

OTish: Perhaps everyone is right; they're playing it safe to release the better stuff later. It makes sense not to fire everything at once. Keep something in reserve should things go poorly. Keep the carrot out so people will join up and hold on. I think someone listed that the PS4 will also be releasing F2P on their system Planetside 2 and WarFrame (both good from what I've played on PC) does Xbox One have any of these?

Call me a curmudgeon but...I am interested in about 0 of that line up. Guess I've been spoiled by cheap indie PC games :|

No it actually happened like this:

On topic: I agree that both launches are looking good, but the ps4 seems to have more indi support so I think it will definitely have more variety

This sounds like such a childish one-up statement. "Oh, PS4's got the best launch line-up in PlayStation history? Well we've got the best launch line-up of all time!" At least Sony's claim is, while of course debatable, reasonable; Microsoft is exaggerating so much it's comical, especially when you actually look at what games they're offering. Like many others have said, none of those games do anything for me except Watch_Dogs, which I could play on the PS3 I already own anyways. Quality over quantity.

Either way, I'm more looking forward to the titles the PS4 will be getting after launch (Second Son, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III), so I'll be waiting until the console has been out for awhile, perhaps even until the inevitable slim version.

So a guy from Microsoft says their launche titles are better... and this is NEWS? REALLY? "Microsoft guy says PS4 has better line-up" Now THAT would be new, but would most likely get the guy fire.
