Bacon works fine in the 'wave. Just stick four slices or so on a plate, cover with a peice of kitchen roll to stop the fat from spraying the inside of the 'wave then cook on max for 4 minutes or so.

Seriously, the dorm rules only allow a microwave to cook with. we can't even have a hotplate, no toaster oven... You can eat the cafe food.. but i want the option of making something when they have crap.. or i missed the time to go.

I understand there are microwavable meals, but i'm looking for more awesome stuff... like that cake recipe....

Any way, thanks guys.

Ctrl-F "popcorn"

Text not found.

I'd have thought someone would've beaten me to the obvious reference.

Anyway, when it comes to microwave cooking, your best bet is probably your grocer's freezer. Stouffer's Lasagna Italiano is my personal favorite (even if it cooks better in a conventional oven.)

Get a toaster oven, however, and the world is your oyster---you can roast a chicken in one of those (I realize that your dorm forbids them, but you can hide it when the RA comes around, right?)

spread some garlic buter on some bread or toast.Put some bacon bits on if you want. Then put some cheese (mozzerela works best) on it. Pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds and eat it.

well, i'm not much for taking chances too big... i'll live with a microwave till next year when i'll just get an apartment nearby, it tends to be cheeper and provide more food choices, plus more room.

Honestly i'm rather glad no one mentioned popcorn, i hate the stuff... but garlic bread, thanks.. goes well with the lasagna I'll refer to this again tomorrow before i go shopping

I hardly ever cook with my microwave anymore. The only time I use it is to make huge marshmallow monster people like at the end of Ghostbusters.... :)

My cousin told me about these little electric skillet things you can buy (they sound really cheep, I'm thinking 20-30 bucks) -- works just like a pan on a stove-top. With one of those you could make a million more things (and better too) than with a microwave. Eggs, pancakes, burgers... and fried bologna sandwiches!

Wow, now I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow.

Take kitty.
Stroke kitty.
Open Microwave tray and Introduce Kitty, then close tray.
Turn on the heat!

Enjoy the pudding...

Ok, joking. I like kittens, actually.

I tried the potato one and got a handful of burn.

Seriously, other than potatoes, I try not to cook stuff in the microwave but rather heat it. Every time I've tried anything resembling a recipe of my own with it I ended having to do a lot of cleaning afterwards.
