Hey gang. I've had a migraine on and off going on two days now. I've tried painkillers, sleep, and all the obscure treatments I've found. The headache persists. Anyone know of any other methods I might try?

Honestly? Caffeine. Drink a Coke, or go get a cup of coffee. I'm not entirely sure why it works but whenever my roommate has a migraine that always seems to help.

Your not trying to quit anything are you? nicotine, caffine, etc. because I was addicted to Coca Cola and when i decided to cut back I got serious migraines, the doctor told me it was just to do with the bodys reaction to not getting the usual dose of caffine.

If not, as been said before, to the doctors you go.

I'm considering the caffeine part, but I gave up all soda and caffeine two months ago. I know it's not withdrawl headaches because I was never that addicted. Also, I'm broke, so the doctor isn't exactly an option at the moment.

Decapitation.

Once your head's off I guarantee you won't feel any pain in it ever again.
Or you could, y'know, go talk to a doctor about it

Drink water I guess, you may be dehydrated, my brother used to get massive migraines when he didn't get much water.

I see your dilemma well us Brits with our free health care I never get this problem

/Done being an arse hole.

You could just sit in a dark room a dark quite room every time you get one. Or Google your problem?
Well in theory, that was the ultimate design for us Yanks and out health care reform. We see how that worked out. /political rant.

And I'm currently sitting in a dark room with my monitor brightness turned down, a large glass of ice water, and the sound turned off.

It helps a bit.

Get off the computer, avoid milk, caffine, chocolate, light, loud noises and movement, also try glasses, sometimes it can be caused by your eyes.

yeah, lots of water followed by painkillers. That should relieve it a bit. If you're intent on not seeing a doctor I would check you are eating well. Make sure you are having plenty of vegetables and basically stay away from the burger and chips.

Most likely, it's a combination of several annoying factors. I'm slightly dehydrated, tired, didn't eat much today, stress, etc. etc. I'll power through it I guess.

A lie down in a dark room usually did the trick when I used to suffer from them. Also, sitting at the computer won't help, no offence. The more your eyes work the worse migraines get in my experience.

I'll be honest: See a doctor now. Migraine that can't seem to be helped can be a sign of serious health problems. My dad's friend from his previous work died because they misdiagnosed a cyst in his brain after he had a load of headaches. They found him a few days later in a...Well...Not a good state.

Or it could be that. As cheesy as it is, try a hot bath or at least putting your hands into the hottest temperature you can without boiling yourself. It can help with stress apparently. Dehydration, go drink a few glasses of water. Didn't eat much, well, just see if you can eat something light like beans on toast. Follow all that with a good long nap.

Good luck.

Oh God I know the pain you're feeling. I've been getting migraines since I was 6. Keep your fluids up, lots of sleep in a dark room, damp cloth on your head and go see your doctor if it goes on for another day.

Are you throwing up or feeling nauseous? If that starts happening, get a friend to take you to the doctor.

Hope that helps :( Feel better soon.

I'm fairly certain that Dr. House takes LSD for a migraine in one episode... but then again i wouldn't recommend anything prescribed by a fictional character...

migraine? are you sure? what are your symptoms and how long have you had them? normally migraines do not go on and off

the 'headache persists' doesnt mean you have a migraine, migraines have more than one symptoms and can be very dangerous and disabling

you can take ibuprofen and paracetamol (within the stated doses) and a computer monitor will only make the condition worse Expsally with the lights off, either sit in a dark room or a lit one, its never advisable to sit in front of a monitor with the lights off

Try some Black Metal, or go to a rave party.

Seriously though, I don't know. People have already given out some solid advice, just do what they've suggested?

Smoke a large quantity of cannabis.
But, if your not into that, drink A LOT of caffeinated drinks.
The former is more fun, in my opinion.
