There's a difference between trying to make an OS a closed source system (which Microsoft is actively trying to do with this "Metro Store" bullshit), and a fucking GAME DISTRIBUTION SERVICE.Bhaalspawn said:I found it hilarious when Gabe Newell talked down about Windows 8 ruining the open nature of PC Gaming. Because it translated to:
"Hey Microsoft! Stop trying to put certification, DRM and moderation to the PC! That's MY job!"
It's going to be the same thing that every gamer issue is. Windows 8 is going to release, and the sky isn't going to fall. At least Notch talking down the increased moderation of Windows 8 is a little more acceptable than, say, Gabe Newell demonizing Microsoft bringing DRM and moderation to the PC when he made billions doing the exact same thing.Zachary Amaranth said:A noble temper tantrum is more like it. Notch is a huge drama queen with a huge audience.Fasckira said:A noble stand.
Good God, usually it's the opposite way around, with people sucking on Valve's dick far beyond rationality or reason, but the hate I've seen for Valve on this forum is ridiculous.
One is a fucking OPERATING SYSTEM, it means your PC cannot DO ANYTHING without one. Unless you want to learn a whole new language (Linux), or use a Mac which means you can't do fuck all with your own system, there aren't a lot of alternatives.
