Simulation theory: we are all randomly generated A.I. creatures in minecraft, which was created in another minecraft, which was created in another minecraft. We are playing minecraft: soon from now, someone will find a way to make minecraft in minecraft.
So, you are proposing that we all live connected to the "Mine-trix"?

But then... wait...

How are demons appearing in the dark, and magic swords Christian?
It's what they mean, symbolic.

The light, representing good and a safeguard from evil.

The dark being the unknown, evil and shit that hurts.

This must have come out before the Halloween update, considering you can now create a portal to Hell.
Well, 'Hell' is very much a Christian concept.
Well yeah, but generally things that are associated with Hell get marked with the satanic label by the Christians and is promptly avoided.

Parody or not, I don't see how this is a bad thing. As if being labled Christian somehow makes it uncool.

Uh, no.

Most religions have a sort of negative afterlife; the Greco-Romans had Hades, for example.

Hell is in no way a Christian concept.
Two points

1 - it was tongue in cheek.
2 - I never said it was unique to Christianity

Bayonetta is also a Christian game, cause it acknowledges the existence of God, and the afterlife. =)

Well I have no problem with a religious group using a game to help explain their faith, but I hope they don't actually believe that Minecraft is supposed to be a Christian game. That would make them very silly in my opinion.

It's just a religious person who reads what he wants into something.
Just like the Bible then.

OT: I read it in all its (lack of) glory and it just reeks of being real. I do believe that some idiot Christian has actually read far too much into it, and highlighted themes that you can find in any game (God of War for example shows Hell being a pretty bad place, and yet I don't believe Christians would be too fond of that considering the main message is to get vengeance on a God...). The thing that convinced me it's not parody is actually the pic on the side for "LOL: Love Our Lord". It's typical Christian thinking to convert whatever they can into a Christian thing (also see Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc...).

And now they're trying to make it look like unreligious games that use themes like Hell, light vs dark, demons, monsters, and (my personal favorite) rock being a solid foundation, are their own ideas and not in fact something from all different faiths all around the world, born from fear of the dark, fear of death, fear of monsters, and the astoundingly obvious idea that rock is more solid and stable than sand.

I guess Jesus was the original embodiment of Captain Obvious.

Seems pretty fair to me, if you're a Christian, you believe God created all, therefore Minecraft is a Christian game.

Really tho, sure, it's open to interpretation, and until the creator of the game (the programmer, not God, he rarely does press interviews sadly, it would really clear some stuff up :D ), says exactly what he based the game on, people can say what they like.
