All I can say is that Perrson deserves the money.

500,000 x 14 = 7 million USD. Seven million bucks is nothing to sneeze at...
Sneeze?

No.

Snort?

FUCK YES.

Mojang says it will reinvest its profits back into Minecraft, with Persson recently revealing on his blog that he'll be moving into a new office with multiple employees soon.
I'm glad to hear he's reinvesting the money into the game and kicking it into a full production, start up company (he's got more money than most start-ups can borrow, so he's in a good place!) Adding a few more team members to the project should increase production speed and also allow him to do more things with the game than he could when it was just him. Besides that though, I hope he invests a good chunk of that into a retirement fund and a few toys. If you can make $7 mil in a year by yourself, you deserve to spend 1 or 2% of that on yourself. ^_~

Damn that's a lot... I'd invest some of that in a stick to go and beat those 12 year olds that keep saying he is lazy and needs to do more work and release more updates on it. I doubt any of those people have ever even seen a line of code in their life.

Dayum Notch you dun good =D

Honestly, what is it about this game that draws everybody to it so much?
Maybe that is best left unanswered.

7 million dollars!?!?! Thats great and all, but he is still making a loss due to the fact the actual price of the game is reduced until the game's official best and complete version is released. So if alot of people buy now then he is not going to make that much more when the actual price is used and only a few people buy it.

Makes me all fuzzy inside to hear this particular from-rags-to-riches story.

But what are hotcakes, anyway? I don't think I've ever bought one.

I'm not trying to be a pessimistic dick here but...

I played the game and honestly I don't get the big deal
It's not "bad" by any means at all
it's just rather... "grind'y" and "pointless"

but hey as far as grind-quest time-sinks go I actually liked THIS better then Red Dead Redemption

again I'm not trying to be rude or anything and I'm glad Notch is selling like this but my main concern is

What will happen when the hype boom finally dies? (Like Brawl... WoW... CoD...)
Only the truly obsessive will continue to play it trying to make sure they "GET WHAT THEY PAID FOR" (or at least pretend to)

in all honesty, I'd pay $10-$15 for the final copy, depending on how it turns out

but keep in mind I'm comparing this to other indie games that are rather pointless... At least beat hazard was actiony, this is like a 3D Runescape with a Lego Fetish

in short

Great Game- but over hyped (because it's indie probably)
Hope the maker can cope if there's a die out
Hope he manages to get the full version onto Steam- THAT will help with sales
