We all know minesweeper is an old game dating back a few years and has nothing all that special about it. But it?s the only of its kind really, there are puzzle games but this is the only one of this style I have ever saw.

But for some odd reason I believe the game has depth to it. With different difficulties and even customizing how many mines you want on screen.

All I want to discuss is how much time minesweeper and take away from your life and how madding it can get for those who play in the over 100 mines and accidently click when they are not supposed to. For such an simple game it is very difficult to claim victory over.
Don?t you people think so?

I always thought Mine Sweeper was a fairly easy game. When I do play it, which is extremely rarely now a days, I generally just try to top my previous record of 14 seconds on a "beginner" map (Windows XP Mine Sweeper).
well there is generally no challenge to that but playing at the level i am which is at 150 mines with max dimensions, now that pisses you off once you mess up when you have like 30 mines left, that just happend 10 minutes ago

Just make sure you make good use of the Shift key while you're playing, and you should be fine.
also right clicking does the trick too

Is it bad that I figured out what the numbers meant my junior year of high school? I swear, that day was like the Matrix.

i would try and explain it but its the sort of thing where you need the game itself opened up with some showing you where to click and telling you why to click there

Minesweeper is the bane of my existance for games. One of the longest games on the PC and I still have yet to beat even ONE round of it. I know how to play but I always just click on that one mine!

Explaining the numbers is kinda tough when I don't have a screen of Minesweeper open in front of me to give examples, but it's pretty simple. If there's a number in the box, it's telling you that there are that many mines touching that square. This can be a blank box (zero mines) or up to an 8. It's really all about deduction, logic, and a little luck after that.

I have played it before and I had no idea what I was doing.

I still have no idea what the aim of the game is.

Watch the video I linked, it's a tutorial.

It's also hilarious and I demand you all watch it.

Once upon a time, I was with an ISP, dialup, that kicked you off after 4 hours. Unfortunately, they had more customers than capacity, so re-connecting would take ages. During those re-connection attempts, I'd play minesweeper. Religiously. Always hard, I'd sit and play. Every four hours. My best time was 126 seconds, then I got broadband. Now I can barely break 200.
