I was wondering how long it would be before the Pandaren become a playable race.

The environments look gorgeous.

But I stopped playing 3 years ago, and after seeing what the game has become after Cataclysm, I'm not going back.

This just seems too silly for me. The idea might be good, but i just can't get into the right mindset to want to play this.

And yes. I think they jumped the shark with this one.

I'm afraid SWTOR has stolen my soul.
Looks pretty the trailer. Story and setting doesn't really look exciting. It feels more like a trailer for an lesser MMO.
Be interesting if Pandas can join both factions but I doubt it.

I'm curious about the new Talent system, particulary the fact THEY REDID IT LAST EXPANSION. I guess they realised how they failed at proving choices for people. Currently you have to be a complete and utter retard to specc wrongly.

The only thing that got me excited was the line describing more Azerothian landmasses to discover. But ultimately, I don't need a subscription fee and the expansion pack to see and learn about it. MMO Champion and WoWWiki can fill my curiosity.

Still ironic how the trailer pretty much says "We did stuff, killed Illidan and Saggyarse, Killed the Lichking and soon be Killing a corrupted uber dragon. Afterwards we're going to go to a pwetty contanent and chillax". Anticlimatic much?

They are crazy, pandas are out now. They should have squirrel people instead hopefully they will rectify that in the next expansion 2 new races squirrel people for the alliance and manbearpig people for the horde saving the world from the crab people, people power.

I might just play it for the first two or three months just because you know the monk class will be hilariously overpowered for at least that long. Scratching my head a bit on a race that is available to both factions though. It is honestly going to be slightly sketchy in terms of pvp, Being able to tell who is your enemy and who isn't is pretty key and now you suddenly throw in the same race, could be a tiny advantage to be a panda. Hell some people might think twice by seeing a red panda is a big battle because you might be mind controlled or some other silliness.

Also a bit curious on what type of roll the monk will fill, I mean when you think of monks from other games there is the healer version, tank version, and dps...which worries me because the paladin kind of filled this role. If they're throwing in another hybrid that is able to tank/heal/dps and ends up being a melee dps I think I might just back-hand the next blizz employee I see.

All that said, I honestly will just come back to see what it is and drop it right after, I was less and less interested in wrath, cataclysm just showed me they knew how to rehash BC and Wrath fight, my expectations are even lower for this. I want end content, yea it is great to have a bunch of pretty new zones, but once I see them, I've seen them. The thing that is going to hold my, and everyone else's attention will be the end game content, not a bunch of pretty scenery.

Edit: Also is it just me or does the year pass seem a bit desperate on Blizzard's part?

Yeah, I remember them saying things like "silhouette is important in PvP" and now BAM!, cross faction races. I wonder what got them to reconsider cross faction races?

Didn't Blizzard post a forum post on their forum back when WoW was new where they basically listen all upcoming expansions?
And so far, what I know, the list has been followed. So, ain't this old news?

I really like the idea of the whole oriental theme, but those pandas look absolutely retarded.
Ah well, to be honest it was pretty obvious this would be the case, but as amazing as the trailer makes it look, I expect a good portion of the promises laced in gold text won't come to be but still, expansions always bring me back cause I desperately want WoW to get good again, a lot of nostalgia but yeah.

As for y'all who are saying "oh wow is terrible" even in its current state it's pretty good entertainment value per dollar, even if you only use it as a chat room.

Sooooo...What this story comes down to is: "Too little too late" (Or maybe just too late)

Most MMORPGS are simply doing the same as WoW, but also adding something unique and special that makes them more interesting (and rarely, a better option). Star Wars: The Old Republic seems to be the best example of this, and unlike most competitors, might actually succeed with the "Same as WoW, while remaining as good, and adding something new to the mix" design goal.

Finally, most intelligent developers seem to realize that there is no point in trying to milk money from "WoW-clones" anymore. PPl who enjoy playing those kinds of games already have more than enough options, and WoW is still best at being the specific type of game it is (Until SW:TOR releases). So innovation new ways to "break away fro the staleness of MMORPGS", ha become the new goal for designers. Guild Wars 2 and The Secret World seem like the most promising so far.

I'm still probably going to look in on if I can play a Pandaren Monk with a Free-to-play account. (Been waiting for the Pandaren since before WoW was even announced)

Why does every MMO have to have a Japan-themed portion by law now? Look, Japan is very cool. We like Japan. Doesn't mean it has to be in every game, all the time.

Kind of surprised it took them so long, to be honest. They should have gotten crap like this out of the way early, because now it just seems like stalling (what about the big, world-ending dragon, eh?!). Imagining how the monsters there could be so much stronger than anything else so far just because they're overseas kind of boggles the mind.

Hell, even Dofus had a drunken panda warrior class and Eastern-themed island long ago. It was almost original then. One of my characters is one, actually.

Good news for you then, they're playable by both.

No. Just... no. I really hope this is some kind of late april fool's joke.
This gets us nowhere with lore, there'll be no way of telling Alliance Pandaren from Horde Pandaren, this means less room for an expansion we'd care about, Pandaria won't have much diversity at all seeing as it's just an island, Pandaren racials are excruciatingly overpowered, the new features sound boring... do I need to go on?
And by the sounds of it they're hinting on an expansion centered mainly around PvP in the future, which will also probably get us nowhere with lore seeing as it'd probably have to be PvE for a new lore boss to make an appearance, meaning yet another expansion lore fans like me will love is probably down the drain.

I know, I'm moaning, but I feel put out about this.

EDIT: Another feature's up on the site, dungeons are going to have 'best times', meaning people in PuGs are going to be even more irritating, hurrying you even more, and flaming you until their keyboards break if you stop moving forwards for a nanosecond.

You realize that pandas are related much more to China than to Japan right?

I'm quite excited to be a monk. Troll or human, though, as I don't quite care for the Pandaren.

I have no interest in going back to WoW but I was always sad there were no Pandaren like in WC3. The environments look pretty cool too.

I thought this was a joke thread. I was wrong and right. Next expansion is kind of a joke...
They've run out of pre-made villains, and have to create their own. What kind of expansion is this going to be? Don't know. Not sure they can top Deathwing and the Lich King as villains.

This won't bring me back to WoW. Actually it makes me want to stay away even more. Usually I take a break in between expansions, I don't see myself going back now.

Very good question.
