a sub game would prolly work out quite well as a mod on that spaceship sim game that requires a computer for each station plus one to run the game.

I want that game so bad, but never had the money for it. Would be awesome for a new Battletech game /cry. I just want a new Battletech game so bad.

I was going to make halo before the diks at bungie made it first.

I actually played steel battalion, when my friend bought one at a game stop, the controls, and dials, and buttons are really awesome, and to took forever to get it down, and even when i figured out the controls, i kept tiping over the tank, also, need a vary big tv or you will not be able to enjoy it.

Oh also, sory Nintendo, this is hard core gaming, your going to need to step it up if you want to make a game like this.

sorry to be going so off topic, but after reading the posts in this thread, all I can think about is what the hell happened to that new Mech Warrior game that was announced a couple years back!? Last I heard, there was an awesome trailer, apparently a mech in it looked like a mech from some anime nobody cares about anymore, there were lawsuits, and now... ages have gone by with no news on this facking game! What the hell! Give me back my mech warrior, you jackasses!

OT: Uhm....kay? Guess that sucks, but hey, should've acted on those ideas when you had the chance.
If you want someone to blame, blame the AMERICAN company that has the 'rights' over said 'anime' (quoted, because said product, is not an anime ... since all the products born out of Robotech were made here in the US), on the other hand, Macross, as the original anime is called, is still popular in Japan and has itself spawned a set of wonderful products in the video game realm, like the A.C.E on the PS, and Macross games on the PSP, which I would rather have the opportunity to play localized version of these games rather than the crap that we are fed when it comes down to the meager choices of games for someone who likes Mech. The funny thing, the Japanese creators didn't see any qualm with FASA using Macross models in their games, they were OK with it.

And you know why these products (Macross) are not localized? Not because there is no market for it, but because Harmony Gold, the same company that sued against Mechwarrior, would not let any Macross products be imported, why? Because they still attempt to make money off an IP they shouldn't have any right over.

Here's a few videos from the series (OVA- Macross Zero, the latest series was Macross Frontier):

I remember something similar to the Battletech command centers. It was more strealined though, and vaguely egg-shaped. Fun to blast away at friends in, but the lines could get pretty long...
And I forgot how much I liked MAcross. Now I have to hunt down all of the one's I missed...
OT: So...Miyamoto missed out? Sorry, but as others said, you snooze, you lose. Pity, he can't really make it now. Wouldn't sell because the people that would love that stuff would probably pass it off as "made by the Mario guy" and the people who loved mario would be wondering where he was.
Now, if the next MechWarrior (make one damnit) had an optional controller like that...well...I sense fun in the future.

Hmm. Is just one screen in 3d? I just realized how awkward it would be trying to use the stylus on a 3d projection.

Well, is he could put a stop to the Mario Spin-offs for about a year and use the combined forces of all those free developers he would have the means to make it.

Few things though.

1.Activision killed the want for peripheral gaming for a while.
2.Capcom may now be in thinking to make a sequal now that Miyamoto has said this.
3. Miyamoto works at Nintendo. FPS and giant robots fighting doesn't resonate grab the casual family demographic.

I can only hope that "Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor" is at least somewhat like the it's two older brothers with invisible controls via the kinect.

But if the third game is just a third person viewpoint over the shoulder of the mech itself... get ready to watch another kinect game crash and burn.

I use to play BattleTech: Firestorm, was finally getting advanced controls down, when they closed it. As far as I know it is the closest thing to being in a Mech. I don't like Mech games or shows that much, but something changes the minute you sit down in that cockpit.
Sigh, my family lived in Chicago in 90-91 and I read about it after we moved to Deleware, it was so disappointing to know how many times I'd been past it without ever seeing it.

Interesting he brings that up. Steel Diver is the only game in the 3DS launch lineup that I was interested in. Of course, I'm not interested **enough** to want to actually buy a 3DS for it. One of the reasons I was interested in it was because of its control scheme. Looked interesting from the shots I saw. I wonder if they will port it over to the regular DS.

I swear they made a video game on that series....
There's a shitload of them, except they don't import the good ones here. I remember playing a robotech (the harmony gold shitty series ... although it did introduce me to Macross, harmony gold had to be a b**** and limit access to the real series), it was okizay I guess for its times.

Easily one of the best experiences of my life was with this game...upon further reflection I don't think that's such a good thing.Seriously though, one summer I set it up in my closest like a cockpit. When I came out there was snow on the ground...good summer.

Someone slap him with a copy of Chou Soujuu Mecha MG. Published by Nintendo, developed by Sandlot. It has mechs with complex controls on the touchscreen but it uses that to add depth to the game by having different bots use drastically different interfaces, e.g. one where you have to shovel coal into a burner to power its nasty attacks. So his own company preempted the release of Steel Diver with a better game and the only reason we aren't calling SD lame is because it wasn't released in the west.
