FOR NON/ANTI BRONIES: So, it's another pony news/rumor thread. If you'd like to voice your disapproval of the show, the fandom, or you just wanna say "LOL WHO CARES IT'S ABOUT PONYS LOLOLOLOL" without anything to say specifically on the topic, then I suggest that you find a thread more suited to your interests instead of bitching about a bunch of guys liking a silly cartoon. But there's free speech I guess, so you can act like a jerk if you please.

FOR EVERYONE ELSE:

...what? Stop looking at me like that! Someone had to make a thread about this.

http://www.equestriadaily.com/2013/02/mlp-spin-off-series-confirmed-rumor.html#more

So, it seems that some sources, the main one being a magazine given out at a toy fair, have claimed that Friendship is Magic will be getting a spin-off called Equestria Girls that "takes the pony heroes on a mission to a new world where they take on human form".

Fueling the fire on this is this image being emailed to EqD and spread around on teh interwebz:

along with this of humanized Trixie:

Now, a rumor is a rumor is a rumor is a rumor, but this has a bit too much pointing towards it in terms of specificity. Before everyone freaks out, let's remember that if this happens, it will be a SPIN-OFF, not a continuous part of the show. Unless it is, actually, in which I guess you can freak out if you want.

I assume the best princess (not Luna/Cadence) will be the Superintendent or something similar, like the president/dictator! Or.. you know... a simple boring teacher.

So... this would make MLP's rule 34 a lot less creepy or just plain worse?

My Little Pony without ponies? In order to appeal to an older audience, they are aging down the characters?

I honestly have no idea what to make of this. I foresee myself ignoring it.

You know what this reminds me of for some reason? W.I.C.T.H. That show on Toon Disney. It was awesome. But enough nostalgia for now.

If this is true, and it's made by the same studio as the original, I guess it could be watchable. Sure. Why not? I'm somewhat optimistic. I'd be surprised if anyone is actually freaking out about this.

I'd be okay with it if it were centaurs, cause holy fuck those are awesome.

Regardless, at least the porn will be less creepy.

I don't know man, we're taking out the animal fetishes, but now we're just making room for the pedophiles.

Eh, it already exists in places easily ignored. And NOTHING beats out that pony porn comic book. Christ that was bad.

(I made a whole post without mentioning that Loli thing. Yay.)

Assuming this is true, I might give it a watch. Seems kinda odd that they're just going to give the cast the same colored skin as their pony forms. I mean, if you're going to make the transition into human form, you might as well go all the way. At least that's what I think.

Probably a bit of both.
Anyway.
You know what, I'll give this a shot. Just... because.

So long as no-one tells EternalNothingness, I think we'll be fine.

I doubt it will happen. It looks semi-hoaxish already. The present 'leaks' look like a redesign to get more at the pre-teen girl demographic, but a previous MLP series tried to hit that same group without having to remove the ponies from my little pony. I guess they might do that, but it just seem like such an extremely odd direction to do with something. I guess maybe MLP is there money machine and they want to hit a new group of viewers but there success can be attributed in no small part to accidentally success with an unrelated audience to their intended target int he first place. It was a random fluke of luck and it would be impossible to duplicate (or maintain). I guess TV execs don't get that and think they can do it again but it's something very usual to do with a show. Then again, I live in a world where Lunatics happened so I've seen stranger (why do I feel old all of the sudden?).

Why is this so damn important again?
I mean, do you think this didn't happened in the past with other series and we must feel bad about this?

I will admit, I was surpised myself, but Hasbro I think saw the opportunity MILES AWAY after so many fanart it saw in Internet....

EDIT:
When I said it happened in the past, I mean a big change to a cartoon series, not the humanization of something.

I see amateurs do better work. Then again, might save those poor cloppers from their tragic fate.

It's actually a pretty smart move on Hasbro's part.

I think they're wanting to cash in on the doll market - think Barbie, Bratz, Monster High...

I can't see MLP really working in terms of humanized dolls, but I plan to ignore it until it goes away. :3

I'll stick to My Little Pony, not My Little Human.
