I'm still waiting for a Warhammer 40,000 MMOFPS with the massive scale and warfare Planetside once had. Hell, if you want to make things even crazier, you could put players in command of small AI squads.

star trek universe where you can actually explore planets instead of being in the ship all the time and play as ALL the species shown in all the series.
They had different species in Star Trek? When? o_O

YES!

Not many people I know have even heard of Rifts or the Megaverse. A Rifts MMO never crossed my mind.

Brilliant.

New Lazlo for the win!

Honestly, I kinda miss the days when the trolls were crazy shamans or spear-weilding nutjobs, and everything was more racially orientated, when one species appeared as maybe only 2 classes.
Yeah, I originally (before the game came out) wanted to play as a Necromancer, alas the class wasn't included. I think it's a bit silly that all races can be DKs, all but one warriors etc. There should be a balance over the factions, but there should be more classes like the Druid which only one race per faction can be.
The DK thing is explained, but the idea they came up with for the reason for all the DK's was kinda stupid (I'm gonna make cannon fodder to draw out a SINGLE enemy!)[/quote]
By the way, why the fuck is Arthas like 12 foot tall?
My only guess is to make it so you can see him when you eventually fight him.
He's not 12 feet tall. He only looks it in a few shots because he's an illusion. When he shows up (I've seen him... four times in leveling) he's about the size of a standard human. Problem is that they've made him seem impotent in the gameworld.
Possibly my dislike of WoW is because, at the time it was released I was an utter fanboy and drooling over the thought of being a Taruen, running around and smacking people with my hooves, and thus had pre-ordered it 3 months before its release date. And then was sorely disappointed at the end result. Being naieve as I was at the time, thinking that the trailers were in some far-fetched way a representation of the real thing. Which turned out to be more like the first Fable, with big feet, hands and heads, and a general feel of cartoony-ness, rather than a serous attempt at a game based on such an epic storyline.
I guess the difference (for example having Death Knights that aren't Undead) is due to the fact that WoW is set 3 years (I think) after WC3, so a lot has changed in that time.
WoW is set three years after War3, BC is another two years after that, and Wrath 2 years after that. So from the first killing of Ragnaros to the killing of Yogg-Saron (the current end boss) is a span of 4 years.

As for the DK's not being undead, Arthas is technically still alive in Warcraft 3's undead campaign. Wrath really turned up the story compared to it's predecessors. There are a few questlines that are friggin sweet (wrathgate, dk start zone, and Mattias Lehner quests), but overall it's slwoly loosing it's character gameplay wise (to me).

So I'm probably gonna swap to Champions when it comes out, and see if that grabs me. If not... I donno.

Also, a Battletech MMO would be interesting. A Bleach MMO sounds like it's actually doable... the two factions being Hollow and Shinigami, with "prestige" classes being Vizard and Arancarr (or however it's spelled)

There's a fanmade Pokemon mmo. It's pretty shitty though. You'd have to pull it off pretty well to get it to be well received.

Um. I think maybe a gundam mmo. Can't use the later continuity's Gundams either; they're too overpowered in comparison to the majority of mobile suits. Skilling might be an issue in that kind of game though.
Phantasy Star! That'd be interesting. Again, skilling hasn't been done before, but given the futuristic setting I'm sure Sega could come up with something.

Yeah, I agree about the really nice quest lines, a lot of lore about Arthas (as you'd expect) in them, especially in Icecrown. I don't really know about the stuff at the moment because I haven't played in about 9 months I think.

What's Champions?

Shadowrun is the perfect setting for an MMO. Has all the elements needed for an amazing game.
I'd love it. Was so disappointed when the only game from its franchise in years was a fps. I'd also go for Warhammer 40K, Doctor Who (give us the life of a dalek killer!) and possibly Star Trek. I may regret playing anything trekkie mind...

Either fallout online, that would be awesome, although i heard that they might be doing that.

Or champions online, which is coming out soon, yay!

A Gundam MMO would be awesome :) Though to stop there being loads of a certain type of gundam, a gundam builder type of system would be cool, something like the one used in Armoured Core...

I did come up with some general outlining of gameplay mechanics when I thought of it before. I guess I'll say a little bit on the subject to start conversation.

Players would be called pilots. Every pilot -is- a newtype (and for those unfamiliar with the term, newtypes are basically psychics) due to the how you can see and know more than you'd be allowed to in character. Every player could pilot fighters, mobile suits, mobile armors, or hybrids. I don't want to get into tanks, or being on foot or anything. Stuff like that almost never even phases mobile suits. Now what could work is perhaps large spaceships and you could move on foot to various turrets and such. Hell, you could expand upon that a lot.

Think of dozens of players each filling specific roles on a huge battleship in space. Players manning cannons, players piloting mobile suits/armors/fighters flying in and out of the hangar, etc. It could be a huge mass pvp, or perhaps one player could 'hire' various crewmembers and coordinate it in a single player experience strictly for pve. You wouldn't even need to do this in space. In air, water, maybe even land. As I said, this could be expanded upon greatly.

Character creation would involve choosing your race, skin color, birthplace (perhaps space colonies, on earth, etc), alignment, and if you associate with any known factions (earth federation, zeon, w/e). Players would choose their preference of whatever type of combat they might prefer, and they'd start off with a generic really "early" model of mobile suit/armor/fighter that fills their preference. Perhaps like a RGM-79 GM or something simple. As you progress, you can pilot bigger and better mobile suits from further on in the Gundam universe. You could choose various weapons, mix and match parts, and perhaps there could be a crafting system where you manufacture your own parts and equipment.

Didn't think I was going to type that much. I've got tons of more ideas, but unfortunately developers never look on random forums for game pitches. This is just the tip of the iceberg, in another words.
