If you enjoy fantasy...Dnd Online, Guild Wars and Lord of The rings online...they´re free and pretty cool. WoW is great but it´ll cost ya.

You can always wait for DC Universe Online if you´re into superheroes or Star Wars: TOR if you´re a star wars nut or a Bioware fan. Both show much promise.

Personally, the only MMO I'm even considering is Star Wars: The Old Republic. But I was never that into them to begin with.

Also, Guild Wars is a great MMORPG! I totally recommend that + it has no monthly fee ;)
This.
Although it's quite dead at the moment - wait for Guild Wars 2 maybe? I think they said Beta testing starts around early 2011...? But who knows. But yeah, Guild Wars is a spectacular game.
Most news about guildwars 2 I've heard in some time, excluding the class realses.

If you get Guildwars you can start working on stuff, i have forgotten the exact name of it, that will effect your characters in guildwars 2. I think you can send special items over that will give u boost when you start in Guildwars 2. I'm currently playing Guildwars every now and then. When I final hit lvl 20 I plan on getting Eye of the North and working on the stuff for Guild wars 2, but that could be for a while, just as the time it could take for GW2 to be released.

If you don't like guildwars don't let that put you off guild wars 2. From what I've read off of the website the game play is going to be so different from Gw, to the point where you'll think it was made by a different company all together.

Go to the guild wars 2 website and you can see what I'm talking about.

Also, I have played wow. Up to Wotlk end game content, then left due to starting a relationship. Although highly addictive its a good game, and as some other people have said previously most of the classes are now unrecognisable so you would be at the same point most other people would be when it comes down to class knowledge.

A third MMO I have played would be Warhammer Fantasy online, had the game since release date and didn't get past the free trail. When it first came out it was as buggy as the minecraft multiplayer, this sadly drove me away from game, according to some my friends that managed to stick with the game it now isn't as bad as it used to be and is now a good game. But don't take my word on it.

Out of the MMOs I have played, if subscription fees don't bother you, I would say wow. But do take into acount that any previous socail commitments may stop if you get to absorbed (addicted) to the game... trust me, i've been there.

If they do bother you on the other hand I would say get Guild wars, or wait for Guild wars 2. as they are both going to free.

(Oh dear god, sorry for the wall of text guys... also sorry for an bad grammer/ spelling that will probably be found)

some day my knowledge of MMOs will actualy prove usefull -_-'

Yeah, they seem to seldom update the website. Or rather, are holding back on information they are giving. I think they made a mistake announcing the game so early. When I heard about it, I got excited. Then the excitement fled as I heard nothing for some time. Now every now and then they release a new major update about profession or whatever, and I get excited...but it's been like...over a month since the last one now?
Anyway, I think you thing you were looking for is the Hall of Monuments. You get this in Eye of the North, and from this you can unlock special equipment for your GW2 character depending on items you have on your GW account.

Unfortunately, the specific items aren't carried over. Rather, how ever many "prestigious" items you have is entered into a calculator which when calculates what you can unlock in GW2:

Just enter one of your character names at the top and it will do the rest!

Indeed, that was what I was looking for.

I haven't got EotN yet. My highest level character is level... 14, Pure ranger. (ok I lie I went into monk for some reason but I have no points in the monk stuff so i just say pure)

most points in marksman and surv, so no pet but lots of explosives and poisons... Just how it should be when you have bow that increases the duration of poisons XD.

Will hopefully be able to get the Hall of monuments before guild wars two comes out... but I realy doubt Ill have the money for both Eotn and GW2.

Also, I agree with what you say about the time it takes for them to update it. Its was updated at a decent pace when it the site was first put up. But now the a large portion of the classes have been realsed, and all the races have been released they have stopped. Why? I would like to no. As you have previosuly said, they have announced the game to early. Maybe if they waited, gave teasers of the classes and races as they were realsed and then, once it was all done released the website and allowed the fans to speculate. Not what they have done.

Play WoW.. It is the best on the market no matter what anyone says (blizzard have to many years practice at it..).

The thing about WoW is, they are re-inventing it, so all of the old features which are not obselete will be played with again. They are redoing all of the old content and making it better and useable.

Also, if you start playing when cataclysm comes out, a whole bunch of people will be levelling from level 1 since they are bring out 2 new races which people are inevitably going to level.

I played WoW for about 3 years, I started about 2 years to late though, but it doesn't take long to catch up. I got to the highest level in about 2-3 weeks, and then after that it took me about a month to do really well at pvp and I got myself into a nice raiding guild.

Anyone who says other MMOs are better are wrong, I've played a big load of them, and none come close to WoW (although Aion was pretty impressive I must say.)

Wow, thanks for the tips guys. I remember Yahtze's video on EVE Online, and after watching it i can rule it out. I bought x2 The threat a while back but rarelly played it because the interface was just too cluttered and complex and had a really steep learning curve, a similar problem Yahtze mentioned on his Vid.

Guild wars looks interesting, and i wouldn't mind waiting trying out guild wars 2. I do have some friends that play WoW so they could help me out a bit. So its a possibility. With regards to D&D, i never really got into it so i will rule that out as well. Lord of the Rings Online looks really cool, and someone mentioned that the community is pretty big.

I will probably try out guild wars (1 or 2), Lord of the rings online and WoW when i have the opportunity. Ill probably just choose one out of the three so my social life wont suffer too much :p.

Thanks all.

Allods and DDO are great games seeing how I've played them both, but to be honest Allods has some similarities to WoW but being free and with different content it has it's differences too.

Honestly Allods has the best end game content I've ever heard of, it involves you being able to fly around in the games adaption of space in a massive boat with up to literally thousands of other players you may or may not know along side you, and you go around looking to kill the other factions boats and steal their treasure and you can also get to new essentially smaller planets by flying around and discovering them, give it a shot I'll see you on there :D
