With less profanity hopefully. (I tried playing GTAIV, but I can't say I was overly fond of the language. Man, I sound like a grandmother just by uttering that)
I'm sorry, but... you do. xD

Nah, I mean, keep the AC free-running, but add in a combat system similar to GTAIV. It might not be exactly like the first two AC games, but it could certainly be a good game, I think.

Another idea. Keep the same combat system from AC, but give it a little more range. You could lock on just like AC, shoot at an enemy and kill him. Get your shots into a rhythm, you can do a combo kill. They can shoot back, but when they do, they more clearly aim their guns. When they do this, you can do your counter-kill by kinda' leaning or otherwise avoiding the bullet, and do something cool to finish them off.

As for defense, I am not sure what to do there... Some sort of armor or shield? Bah, I dunno'.

Kevlar! Bring on the Kevlar!

As for finishing move, I've always wanted to triple tack someone in a game. Two to the chest and one between the eyes.

And as for my grandmotherishness, I don't mind the profanity in general, but when someone says the f word in pretty much every sentence, it just screams ignorance to me. XD

Depends, can we make ski mask made out of kevlar? Make some glasses out of bullet proof glass and you're all set.

I think that if they do this they'll have the hidden blade and a dagger for more... covert weapons shall we say, along with a silenced pistol, and then like in AC 2 you can steal bigger guns or other weapons off an enemies body if it's a real fire-fight or something, still the possibilities of high-tech stealth equipment would be nice

I'm just gonna throw this possibility out there. In the next AC game you explore yet another of your lost ancestors memories. About 75% of the game is spent in memories and in the other portion you are running around with a group of assassins and bomb numerous Templar Headquarters without getting noticed. You get noticed, you loose. Final fight is fist to fist or blade to blade. Desmond learns to kick ass with swords like his ancestors did.

Disclaimer: I have yet to play ACII so this idea could be moot due to something that happens in the second installment.

No, I believe ACIII will not be modern day, however there will have to be a modern one sometime.

... No. D:

Just no.

Why's everyone think that it's got to be about stealth? Assassin's Creed... it has only so many stealth elements. Very few. Sometimes you don't want to be seen, but being seen isn't hard, and when it is hard, it isn't necessary.

I dunno'. I can see why stealth would be important in more modern times, but I also don't think that it's been a big part of the series.

...why? Can't we have both in one game? Considering that the spoiler I read that I didn't mean to stated that
they were going to a northern HQ to explore his memories some more
it would make sense to me that ACIII will still have quite a bit of memory tromping. Also, I hate the idea of AC turning into a TPS, so being a figurative "Stealth Bomber" is more appealing to me. I just recognize that you can't really make a full and well developed(non-repetitive) game out of that alone.

Ok, I have never played the first game (I have seen the intro though).

that the genetic memory thing was kept
have the memories overtake the guy whose genetic memories you are watching then just be a normal assassin in the real world, unable to use guns because of your inexperience but with a costume more suited for blending in in the current society.
It would give a story-line relevant reason for not using guns, you could buy throwing knives and use bows for projectiles and stuff, so guns wouldn't put you at a serious disadvantage and then you could go after guys that are the modern day version of your targets way back when.

Well anyways it is just an idea to throw around, if you don't like it I don't care because I pulled it straight out of my 'A'.

Trust me, man. You gotta' play through ACII to get it.

Desmond's gonna' save the world. :D

Which is kinda' lame, sorta', but...

Why does it need to have guns? Couldn't guns be outlawed in this area? Assuming that Desmond wants to get revenge on the corporation that kidnapped him, wouldn't he be in their headquarters? Since the headquarters is probably an office building, large firearms like shotguns and assault rifles and sniper rifles and such are impractical. Pistols, though, could work. Realistically, they'd use tasers, not pistols. So, it could be done, since you don't need guns.
Free-running. Can't do that in an office building...

Also, "Nothing is true and everything is permitted."

Trust me. The Assassins would use guns at the very least.
I'm going to address your post in order of your sentences.
2.) I didn't play AC2. If that was said in the game, I don't get your quote.
Can't answer your other questions, but "Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted" is the motto of the assassin's. It was in the first one as well.

I still don't see why he can't be a Templar bomber (<-living out unfulfilled dreams).

Seriously though, I don't see why Desmond would have to use guns. I get that modern society requires guns if you are going to get in a direct fight, but he is supposed to act like a damn assassin. Don't get caught or get in direct fights and kill the target quickly and discreetly should be standard(though the assassination missions of ACI didn't seem to understand that idea).

Templar bombing: It just doesn't fit the gameplay. It'd be lame.

The games haven't been about stealth. ACI and ACII are actually quite unstealthy. Lots of combat.

People gotta' stop associating the word assassin with stealth and actually play the games. D:

Leap of faith off of an exploding building...boring? Blasphemy

Let me put it this way. If they make a modern AC and it is more about gunplay(because of the precident) over stealth, I won't buy it or even play it. Hiding so you can take someone out hand to hand would just be more appealing to me. It doesn't have to be as sedated and slow in it's approach to stealth like MGS was, I just don't want to spend the entire damn game in a shoot out. I have enough TPS and FPS, thank you.
