As much as it's impressive I'd like to point out something that has just been stated.

All of that money is in the hands of Bobby Kotick.

Seriously....

I wish for Bad Company 2 to put up a fighting chance.
Yeah, those were my exact thoughts. Well done everyone, there goes new and creative ideas for the next decade
Well, this actually just makes me appreciate EA more.

Sure they dropped Pandemic, but they still have DICE, who still make FPS's that are fun as hell.

Even Battlefield 1943 from last year, even as WW2 games are rightfully dying.

But sadly the 1 Billion dollar mark of MW2 makes me realize even more that...

There will never be a Battlefield 2143...
No BF 2143? Noooooooooooooo!

MW2 was an interesting game, it's just it wasn't very fun.
Oh my god..... Oh. My. GOD.

I'M NOT ALONE!
I thought 2142 was great! Many a hilarious time had online with mates.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE

I wonder if they want to turn it into a movie made by James Camaron?
Then it would also have to be made by Zach Synder and Michael Bay.

Well there's no accounting for taste. I'm sorry, to those of you that enjoy this game, but I watched my nephew play it and I just couldn't figure out what the attraction was. 'Course I never have seen the attraction in any of those type of games. And frankly I find it very depressing that it's that kind of game that's smashing sales records and whatever. You can take that however you want, but no offense is intended. Again, nothing against the game itself or the people who play it. It's just not my thing.

No... Just no. Why do mediocre games always sell so well.
Because people enjoy the game, and some other people are actually good at the game.

We few...we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in Escaptopia now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here...

Yeah now Bobby Kotick will think that he really does own the game industry and can spout off and do whatever BS he wants to with no penalty. I can see why some like this game and I will not make judgements on the game itself because I have not played it as per I will never give another penny to Activision as long as Kotick is in power. But I would much rather have seen this prize go to a new game/IP with a focus on story and style.

All this will accomplish is more spinoffs, remakes, etc. without showing them that many of us would also love to see some new and interesting games that do not fit the standard mold and are not focused on how many people we can kill in a 15 minute round.

I wish more people would have bought games such as Psychonauts, Mirrors Edge, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Beyond Good & Evil, etc etc etc.

Guys, just stop. No one on the Escapist picked up on calling it "Mewtwo". Even though I liked the idea myself.

Well, I thought it already broke that amount, actually.

It's just a thing. Kind of like misspelling Jake Gyllenheimer's name every time we write a news post with him in it, or using the Kojima On A Duck post.

The first true videogame blockbuster.

Games have now merged with film.

Oh Jesus. It's a sign of the impending doom that shall befall us.

Has anybody told Marla Jo Fisher [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/97357-Frumpy-Mom-Responds-To-Attacks] about this? I mean according to her, video games are responsible for everything thats wrong with kids, so with sales numbers like this, I guess we're pretty much fucked.
