Wait, the games not out yet?
Then...how is my cousin already playing it? No seriously, I could understand if he was some dirty pirate leeching it before the UK release but how is that possible if the game hasn't even come out...?

Unless he imported from Japan or something.

Unfortunately, it's been leaked.

Ohh... right then, I suppose that -does- make him a dirty pirate. Still since we come from Dorset near the quey I guess that's rather fitting.
Arr.

Still, shame the multiplayers going to be utterly lopsided in the favour of thieves then. I think I'll avoid asking to borrow it, if this is the case.

Anyone want to read how and why the PC version of this game is just a ported console version? How Infinity Ward has screwed over the PC community and does not seem to care?

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/11/pc-modern-warfare-2-its-much-worse-than-you-thought.ars

Modern Warfare 2 has long earned the ire of PC gamers for its lack of dedicated servers, but Infinity Ward has now announced that it's taking away much more than control over hosting with the game in one long face-palm of a question and answer session. No servers, no console, no mods, no problem!

i am really upset about the space station clip... kind of a major spoiler IMO.... way to blow what i'm guessing is the end of that level IF! (based mainly on assumption, I know, but cmon... how do you survive that?)

I can't hear anything over the sound of how mind-blowing this trailer is.

I might melt from the excitement.

saw this yesterday, and it looked pretty cool. i do, however, still doubt i will buy it after IW´s cockslap on the PC gamers.

edit: oh, and btw John, the space thing is presumeably a level in the Internation Space Station (which would be pretty awesome).
...I don't get how that would work. Not only is the ISS actually pretty teeny, but something about shooting guns in such a small space where you absolutely do not want a hull breech strikes me as a bad idea...
I'm guessing it'll be a semi-interactive cutscene, like the part in the original when you get executed... I'm guessing the terrorists launch a missile at the satellite to impair the US' ability to defend against an attack on their own soil, meanwhile you control an astronaut for a brief period of time while you see the station destroyed from up-close.

No, not really, too busy watching a space station go ka-boom. But if your that bothered by it, then don't get it. Simple.

OT: it's all looking good, but I'm intrested in this co-op thing they have. Looks like a load of fun.

I doubt it's you (the PC) as although you can use any weapon without training, most soldiers aren't trained for space. More then likely it's this:

Which is actually a cool idea.

I'm betting it'll be like the introduction of the first one. You know, where you watch the events through the Middle Eastern fellow's eyes. It's probally some everday, unknown kind of astronaut doing some kind of routine check, when BOOM! The terrorists blow up the Ameircan satellite.

HOLY FUCK IS THAT A SPACE STATION?

.....ahem.

I preordered the game on Steam (on second thought, bad idea - I wish I'd gotten it as a physical disc, like the first MW) about a week and a half ago, and I've been counting down the days ever since. This trailer does absolutely nothing to diminish that.

As for the space scene, my guess is that it's a "cutscene" level, like the one in the first MW where
you look through Al-Fulani's eyes as he's driven through a warzone and executed.

A mission is called Space Station.

And I guess it's like Terroist take over the satalite and it has loads of info on the US.

But yeah, they make jumping looking epic, so EXICTED for this game.

Modern Warfare 2's Launch Trailer is Really Badass

With the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 just around the corner, Infinity Ward has released one final trailer to promote the game's single-player campaign and get itchy trigger fingers twitching in anticipation.

Who knew that the sweet musical strains of Marshall Mathers fit so well with scenes of carnage and destruction? I sure didn't.

Lately, it seems that there's been quite a storm of controversy around Infinity Ward's massively anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but said controversy has been solely aimed at one of the most eagerly-awaited titles of all time [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95594-Infinity-Ward-Responds-to-Modern-Warfare-2-Controversy].

The above trailer showcases scenes from the single-player campaign, and I have to admit that even as someone who probably wasn't going to pick up the game right away, it's looking pretty awesome. I think that this trailer's particular strength is that it shows fast and furious combat in a huge variety of settings and situations. There's urban combat in what looks like a bombed-out developing nation, there's suburban combat in the streets of the U.S.A. (but we knew that already), there's fighting in snow, in the desert, bombarding what looks like a medieval fortress, and it goes on from there.

There is one bit that has me scratching my head, though: At 0:57, there's a very brief sequence that unmistakably takes place beyond Earth's atmosphere. I'm assuming that it's just a cutscene of sorts, because even a guy like Soap MacTavish probably has no business being out in space. It does make me wonder about the context of the scene, and why we'd be messing around with satellites in Earth orbit instead of gunning down bad guys on the ground.

Guess we'll find out in less than a week.

(Thanks, EquinoxETO!)

Do we have to pay money to watch the trailer :p

sorry, the price tag is still getting to me

No no no. It's clearly just an attack. Think how difficult it would be to take over a space station. You'd need a ship, some way of docking without permission, some kind of space suit (To be safe). I think it's simply a case of shooting down the ISS.

I mean, that Chinese satellite that they shot down was controversial, think how big this would be if it happened!
