um... that sounds cool, but what about people with a slow internet? Those people do exist.

And I wonder if you can buy games with Microsoft Points.
*raises hand*

Rockin' the 1MBit internet up here in Alaska and it's costing me out the ass because there isn't any other broadband offering..the joys of being "rural"

grumbles* of course the next street (within 300 feet) got cable because it's a "new" subdivision..
I am in the same situation. I live in Vermont and have the same type of connection, while a nearby town has DSL.

It pisses me off to no end, they have been saying "DSL is coming for everyone" for a few years now, I'm starting to lose hope I will ever play online multiplayer again. Because before this I lived in a suberb of Chicago and had Fiber. I went from the speed of a cheetah to the speed of a turtle.

As someone who doesn't have a credit card, I don't like this. As long as you don't need your account to access games you've downloaded, and it just goes to your hardrive, there are plenty of ass holes who enjoy hacking out there who can't make an honest buck to pay for it themselves, so if it goes to account only, I won't use it. In fact the only way I will use it is if they make the disks unavailible to buy.

Hmm. That games on demand thing sounds like Microsoft heard of OnLive and said 'Oh shit', then tried to muscle it in first.
They're not even remotely the same thing, so I don't see why that'd be the case.

I'm guessing that they're leveraging off their experience with the "Xbox Originals" more than trying to break new ground with games on demand.

Why aren't they remotely the same thing?
OnLive: you don't own the game and instead pay a subscription, the game plays on hardware at a remote location and just sends the rendered output to you.

Games On Demand: you buy the game once and download it to a hard drive, you play it locally on your own hardware. GD is "just" a console version of Steam, to put it a different way.

That's some sound logic. Fair enough.

And we both have Tau avatars. Awesome.
