More Star Wars: Battlefront 3 footage released

As can be seen above, more footage from an in-development Battlefront 3 has been released. Disney say they are looking around for another team to finish development of the '99% finished game'. but the original developers suggest it may just be canned.

It's so beautiful, yet heartbreaking to watch, like crimson flames consuming an orphanage for blind puppies.

I'm not an expert, but it seems like most of the work is done save for some bug work and polishing (some of the collision detection was off, and the walk of the AT-ST looked strange.) Hopefully Disney gets it finished up in-house or outsources it.

P.S. That 'To Be Continued' felt like a kick to the gut.

They would kind of have to outsource it at this point. Lucasarts is dead as a developer now. This was apparently their internally made version of the game, after they fucked over Free Radical's version.

Not bad but I have to wonder how open the maps will be an useable things like speeder bikes will be (assuming the game comes out)

As far as star wars games go Im more interested in 1313 but this was still nice to see. I really hope battlefront 3 comes out and turns out to be amazing with a great moding scene. However in this age I dont think thats going to happen. Disney's looking for new developers, not the talent that was in it originally so thats usually a bad thing in and of itself but in this day of digital distribution, DRM, and DLC moding has taken a major hit.

Well, it looks awesome and I really hope it real. The only thing that bugs me is that it sort of came out of nowhere. I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that nothing had changed in the last couple of years about its development and now all of a sudden there is game play footage? This is probably the cynic in me but I guess we'll just have to wait for something more official.

I'm also becoming very cautious about what I mean when I say I want Battlefront 3 now. Because we're getting increasingly close to an area where they'll create a generic FPS and call it Battlefront 3.

When the original developer is dead, the project has been in limbo for years and years and they're turning games that weren't BF3 into BF3 is there any actual guarantee that the gameplay we want to see will still be in there?

(Also not a big fan of the vehicle focus. The speeders looked cool, but actually being in a vehicle wasn't the fun part of BF2. It was cool to be in one, but if there had been a huge focus on it, it would have spoiled the game. They all move and shoot quite clunkily (as is appropriate) but that's because the core of the game is actually moving around and doing stuff on foot against other foot soldiers

The game honestly looks pretty good, they could use the last 1% of the game touching up the HUD and whatnot but it looks like a game I might buy. Still doubtful if Disney is ever going to release it.

I'll be honest....it looks rather average. And I have faith in Disney. Everyone everywhere was raging when Disney bought Marvel, and everyone thought they were going to ruin Iron Man and the possibility of an Avengers movie. And when Avengers came out, the entire nerd world was gushing over it. It also made third on highest grossing film ever. There is also a rather large demand for Battlefront 3 (Well, it seems it's large. It could be rather small in comparison to gamers who simply aren't saying they don't care one way or another but would get it if it were released), so I don't think Disney will simply scrap it. And if they do, I think they were start from scratch. I also kind of expect them to order a KOTOR 3 in the next few years. Because too many people raged over Bioware making TOR instead of KOTOR 3. And since Disney own the rights to Star Wars (At least I think they do, correct me if I'm wrong), they can order an independant game company to make KOTOR 3 without a word to EA or Bioware.

Although I'd rather Bioware make it. They do make good games.

Whilst I was massive fan of Battlefront 1 and 2, and I spent many an evening playing those games.... that footage looks like a game-mod. A mediocre game-mod. For a '99% finished' game that's been in high demand within the gaming community, that looks like crap.

I'm remaining cautiously sceptical.

If none of you mentioned the name of the game in the footage, I would have thought it was pre-alpha footage of a new Republic Commando game. Just for the sole reason that this footage has you in first person mode, where battlefront 3 was ALWAYS third person mode.

If this was what Battlefront 3 could have turned out to be, than thank goodness it didn't come out. Otherwise, Battlefront 3 based on this footage, would have been a generic FPS like Republic Commando.

You could switch to first person in Battlefront 2. I don't know why you would want to, but you can.

It was already said but you could play in first person in the other Battlefronts, the ability to change views was a very cool feature that most games dont have, so yeah... I guess if you played in TPS it was a good game but if you switched to FPS it would become generic. /sarcasm
