I just started up a male Dwarven Noble Warrior. :[] I've played and beat the game several times, but only played a Dwarven Noble one time, so I figured that's what I'd create. I considered human again but I've done that to death and Mage is the only class I'm willing to play an Elf as.

To be perfectly honest, I was stoked for DA2. Had it pre-ordered, got the DLC for Sebastian, the works(I don't have any other dlc than that, though). I was disappointed, to an extent. I didn't think DA2 was bad, per se, but I didn't really enjoy it all that much. The gameplay was fun but I still prefer the combat in Origins over 2 and you had to do a lot of looking to see through the narrative dissonance on the surface.

Personally, I don't believe DA2 is a sequel at all. Not to say it's bad- just not a sequel. Other than a few cameo appearances and some altered quests/dialogue, DA2 has little to do with Origins. It's just another game that takes place in Thedas. Though from what I've heard, Inquisition takes place in Orlais and sounds very interesting. I'm cautiously looking forward to it.

And they'll probably have some weird explanation set up to recon Morrigan's god-child in. They retconned Leliana's death, so I wouldn't put it past them.
Gotta say, Dwarven Noble was probably my favorite start-up story out of DA:O. I really liked how everything was hunky-dory, you were a badass and everyone loved you......until that rat-bastard brother of you frames you for your other brother's murder! Ohhhhhh that son of a *****! Given that it was my 2nd playthrough of the game in which I was a dwarf noble, I was EAGERLY looking forward to telling him to go screw himself once I got to the dwarf missions. "Ohhh, what's that? Your little plot didn't even pay off with you becoming the king? Well screw you, I'm siding with Harrowmont! U mad bro? *insert trollface*"

And yeah, that's what a lot of people complain about with DA2: it wasn't a direct sequel. I think after Mass Effect having you continue Shepard's story from ME1 to ME2, people were expecting to get to play as their Warden again. But really...there's no where for the Warden's story to go. You either die sacrificing yourself to kill the Arch Demon or you wander off, never to be seen or heard from again (apparently following Morrigan into a creepy alternate dimension or something, in some cases :p)

But really the Warden served his/her purpose. He/She was made to fight the Blight - and extremely rare occurance in which the entire world is threatened. So you stop the Blight...the Warden's job is officially done. Beyond fighting Darkspawn, Wardens are supposed to stay neutral in the affairs of governments and kingdoms....fighting Darkspawn is literally their only purpose in life. They get initiated so they can sense the buggers, they hunt them down, and they kill them. When they get to s certain age they wander off into the Deep Roads so they can fight Darkspawn until their last breath.

What I'm getting at is that DA2 couldn't have been a continuation of the story from DA:O. The purpose of DA2 was to do what most 2nd Episodes do in trilogies: expand the plot and set up the 3rd game. That's exactly what DA2 did: it showed you the origin of the Mage Civil War (at least that's what I'm calling it). It shows how a massive conflict that's engulfing the entire world started. It's the Empire Strikes Back of the DA series...not much REALLY happens, but you learn some important stuff and are all set to go for the third episode.

But yeah, if Morrigan is to play a big part in DA3 and not just be like "Hey, I'm back everyone!" they'll likely retcon the god-baby into existence no matter what choice you made in the first game. I was VERY surprised to see Lelianna grew her head back after my Dwarf Noble lopped it off because I tainted Andraste's ashes. :3

Are not the Old Gods corrupted, therefore she would be bringing back a corrupted God?

The morality of it is pretty clear, while Bioware made their best effort to make everyone morally ambiguous it is not hard to determine who you can trust in the game. Think of it this way; The Darkspawn are a threat, will always be a threat even without an Archdemon. More so with one. By summoning an Old God, could it be any worse than the threat of constant (and occasionally near) total annihilation?

They were corrupted by the taint.
The ritual old god baby would apparently be free of the corruption, or at least Morrigan says so.

Did that many people really kill Liliana? In like 6 playthroughs, neither me or my fiance ever defiled the ashes. Their never seems like a really good reason to do so.

I said 'yes' both times. First time because I got a distinct impression that the ritual was something that Morrigan came up with out of desperation to save her only love from an imminent death in only way she could find on a such short notice; yet, she respects the Warden enough to give him a choice. My own reading of Morrigan is very close of that 00slash00 has: tough and extremely practical (and maybe not extremely wise and somewhat power-hungry) person, who softens quite a lot at the end.
Second time I said 'yes' because I wanted to see Loghain's reaction ^^".

I've always said yes, as long as I'm the one who's going to do the ritual. My logic being that if there's to be an uber-god-child (hopefully of no relation to the mass effect 3 variety), it damn well better be my child. It also makes the ending of Witch Hunt (if you choose to go with Morrigan) a pretty awesome family reunion. It also means you're starting the most badass family in all of Thedas. My canonical play through (I've played Origins 4 times) is Male Human Mage romanced Morrigan, fathered god-child, went with her into the Eluvian. The result is that:

1. Your character is one of the most powerful (if not the most powerful, by the end of awakening) mages in Ferelden
2. You're "married" (as close as she would ever get) to one of the other most powerful mages in Ferelden
3. You've fathered a kid who is going to be one of the most important (and probably powerful) beings in Thedas
4. As a bonus, you and Hawke are related (not even that distantly), which makes your family even more badass

There's so much badass it's almost ridiculous.

Finally, this kid existing seems like it *might* be important in Inquisition, so I'd rather have it... well, exist!
