How would making skill the most important aspect ruin a game?
Skill? You mean block attack block attack block attack.

There's more skill in working out stats and perfecting your character than in repetitive combat.
There are stats in Oblivion too just so you know and Oblivion just adds a layer of engaging action to an otherwise bland battle system.

Without console commands? Don't know. You're just gonna have to get killed by blighted rats and Cliffracers till you get your skills up. Remeber-Skills for kills. Skills for Kills. Cookie if you get reference!

Oh for gods sakes, quite being arrogant assholes. He prefers to play the game a certain way and it's not going to effect your game, the way you play the game or anyone the experience of anyone elses game. This is the kind of shit that ruins topics on here.
Well said and for everyone who thinks I'm cheating I cleared it before I just want to play it with the Oblivion style melee

I don't know if there is anything you can do to make it like Oblivion given that the combat is pretty much hardwired to the core mechanics of the game engine.

Other than what one poster said, which was to get Oblivion and download Morrowblivion or whatever it was called, is about the extent of it. I think Morrowind's "hit-nothing-two-inches-away" combat system is there to stay.

Morrowblivion won't exactly do much since it was never finished due to Bethesda getting their knickers in a twist about it violating the EULA of both games.

Exactly. Either fix you stats or die like all noobs in Morrowind. I hated Oblivion, it was more an action game than a stats RPG.
I disliked the system, either have auto-lock on and stats or make a hit mean something.
Wouldn't be a problem if the game wasn't first person.
