Not missing much. Morrowind was a VERY flawed game. Next to oblivion it gets annoying when you DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE OBJECTIVE IS!

The expansions fix most of the flaws the original game had.

Use your journal. That's what it's for.

It must be hard to have to think while playing a game. Thank god Oblivion came along to spoon feed you everything and make every single dungeon exactly the same so you'd never get lost.

To the OP: Can you read the files on the disc at all? Is the failure to read only when it does the copy protection check, or all the time?

Anger. Morrowind is my favourite game of all time, and you just said Oblivion was better than it. The compass is a stupid device, the directions people gave you always worked if you followed them correctly.

Edit: Nicely said, tiredinnuendo.

Exactly. See my original post to you.

The Directions where a cabin. By a river. In the east.
Is this the one you're talking about:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Writ_for_Sarayn_Sadus

If so, note the journal text:

"I have been given a Writ for the honorable execution of Sarayn Sadus. He may be found in Zaintirari. I should first head to the Erabenimsun Camp and then go northwest until I reach a steampit. Zaintirari is north of the steampit, but hidden from view."

I don't recall any of the Morag Tong quests being any more vague, and those directions are fairly easy to follow.

Just to clear something up here. Yes i think oblivion is the better game. Oh noes shock horror! I had a far better experience with oblivion then i ever had with Morrowind. I did not enjoy having to follow complex directions to find something. It ruined the game for me to the point where i gave up on the main plotline and just started to maul everything with a warhammer. Also i thought the entire game of oblivion was improved for the VOICE ACTING ALONE! the entire immersion of Morrowind was totally thrown off by poor characters. And why should i take this sarcastic hate for enjoying one game over the other? MORROWIND IS OLD PEOPLE! it was good at its time, but annoying leveling system aside, oblivion was just a much better game, and one that i genuinely got into. Morrowind was just a little winding down by attacking things for me. Oblivion had me actually interested and contantly wanting to play more.

Agreed.

On a side-note, The combat system in Morrowind was pretty broken when you had low levels in the weapon skill. If they had the combat system and graphics of oblivion in Morrowind, it would have been even better.

What the hell happened to mark and recall spells in oblivion?

Fingers crossed for TES 5.

I think you're daft then; of course in Morrowind you were expected to be able to do horribly complicated things like follow simple directions without flashing arrows all over the place....
