Many I agree with above, but here's one not mentioned yet - it simply never gets old laying the smack down on the Black Spider Ninja clan in the various new iterations of Ninja Gaiden.

Hard to say. I played Fallout 3 and Oblivion for every waken moment until I had finished them, and I have quite a few replays on the latter - but I'd say that the God of War series are my most addictive game. Played the third one probably five times, the second even more and the first time... well, just twice. Never get tired of the games.

Edit: The five times replay might not seem much to some, but in pretty much all cases I play the game once then put it aside for ever. If I really liked the game I might give it another go a year or two later... unless there's some trophies/achivements I missed!

Most Rockstar games have really good replayability and they're always fun every time around.
But my latest gaming addiction was Deadly Premonition. I finished it the day before I went on holiday, and I was craving another playthrough the entire week I was away. Great story, fascinating characters and as a Peaks Freak, it's comfortingly familiar but still a lot of fun.

Yea, there's nothing like starting the construction of a house after dinner and then being surprised it's getting light out when finishing it. You just don't realize how much time has passed, that's what makes it addictive.Spudgun Man said:

New Vegas would've been almost as hard to put down if it didn't crash every half hour. The map and locations weren't as cool but the story was more interesting.

Civilisation 5 and FF tactics A2: grimoire of the rift had me addicted to the point where it's literally "get back from college, conquer civilisation/unlock new skills for 7 hours straight".
I think I have about 200 hours on Civ 5 over a month and about 300 on FF from 3 months, the addiction to civ was more powerful but ended more suddenly.

Man, I wish I could re-cultivate that mindset. I don't find any games addictive any more. I'd be surprised if I could find a game I've finished in the Steam collection.
But, going back in time I'd say Thief II or Total Annihilation. Thief II was just crazy when it came out. My computer couldn't handle it at the time, so I befriended some rich people and played it like crazy over at their house. Everything from the environment to the story sucked me in like a vacuum cleaner of love. I replayed it a bunch because of the different ways you could complete missions and move through the levels.
Total Annihilation just blew everything out of the water. It was developed about a mile away from my house and when I was finally able to get it to run on a machine, I peed my pants a little out of tension. While everyone else was mutually tossing salad over shit like Star Craft and Age of Empires (both games I did and still do love to this day), I was jamming an RTS game with nukes, a true 3D environment, essentially unlimited units, completely varied factions, air, land and sea battles, etc. It was an awesome game that really didn't get the attention it deserved. It was very innovative for the time and a massive step forward, especially graphically. I still play it to this day. Nothing beats launching 10 nukes at an enemy base with an armada of 50 cleanup bombers and 100 escort fighters in my eyes. Or sending 150 amphibious tanks across the ocean to provide a front while you maneuver 100+ bombers to strike from the flanks. Great game.

My favorite franchise. I'm trying to beat the whole game without looking to any guides/Internet/people help at all completely on my own. Searching for TM's HM's and discovering new caves and areas make this the most rewarding gaming experience of my life

Does Minecraft count? I guess that's kind of a cop-out though...
I'd have to say any of the Fallout games (except Brotherhood of Steel, the console exclusive one), or maybe the Elder Scrolls games. Hell, you can't go wrong with most single player RPGs.

Oh yeah, I know where you're coming from exactly. Have you tried Darkstar One? It's a great alternative to FL. Also, if you're looking for a good modern MMO when it comes to space sims, Black Prophecy is the way to go. It's the first Korean MMO that I got addicted to, and plus, it's FREE!Mandarth said:My god. Prince of Persia Sands of Time, and Starcraft. Both have well developed worlds, engaging characters and story, and most of all, perfect atmosphere.
Definitely Fallout: New Vegas right now. Going through it with all of Project Nevada (and fellout) enabled makes it a whole new experience. Easier to kill, easier to die, food is actually pretty scarce, can't see four feet ahead at night... I'm actually tempted to start using armor...
