Most badass characters?

Ike, from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Sure he has 'support,' but by the end of the first game he can usually fend off a whole enemy squad single handedly without breaking a sweat. Then in the second game he's that powerful when you first get him.

Also, he fights for his friends.

But really any character from almost any game where Co-op is not an optional gameplay mode. Once you add 1 to 3 other characters that could, if you choose, be human controlled then you could be overwhelmed if you tried it solo. (though they usually decrease the difficulty when you do) (some exceptions apply)

Which is why I'd always thought that'd be cool for The Star Fox games, because I always end up saving everyone at least once during my fight to take down entire space armadas single handedly.

Until Star Wolf shows up on Venom.

Mmhm, if you take each L4D character and toss them into the level on their own, they'll get pounced, or tongued, or tanked, or just munched to death by the general hordes. Certainly not one-man armies.

CJ is though. The only thing that could stop me in that game were the paramedics, who always ran over myself and my posse...

Let's try Fenix, from Starcraft. You can't get much better than the Protoss, and he's about as good as it comes. Though Zeratul has his moments when he stops bemoaning the fate of his people and actually blows things up, too, so I could go for him.

Edit: In retrospect, I'll award this to Hellsing's Alucard if any character counts, or to Alex Mercer if it's videogames only.

I'm sorry but I can't take that character seriously... He looks like a transvestite samurai-geisha wannabe. He's HILARIOUS.

That's probably his battle advantage. He wins all fights because opponents just drop the controller and piss themselves laughing.

This. Just think about it. If Kratos went up against any of these other characters he would easily win.

Actually Kratos would easily lose, given that every other "bad ass" has mastered the secret art of "guns".
