excuse me son? timesplitters is a game were you travel to different time periods and kill things while meeting your future and past selves. and there is ninja monkeys. HOW IS THAT GENERIC!!!???

Because, from my experience with time splitters, all you do is run around in small arenas killing people, monkeys, and robots. And you do this with weapons that are barely above COD as far as creativity goes.

so a gun that shoots syringes at your enemies until they explode is COD level weaponry?

For a game that I liked and enjoyed, but that I still thought was generic, i'd have to say dragon age : origins. Elves, Dwarves, a horde of not-Orcs, mages, etc. I liked the game, but the overall plot and background were pretty generic. Thats probably why I liked Dragon Age 2 a little better, the story felt a little more focused on believable human conflict.

well can I classify that every game that lets you fire a weapon is generic? I don't like halo but i don't think its setting and weaponry is generic.

If you read my original post you'll see the word "generic" isn't actually in it, instead I used the words, "boilerplate, by-the-numbers, souless, bland, grey, boring, 5/10, uninspired" and I just used the word "generic" in the title as a blanket term for all those adjectives, I guess I'll change the title if you feel the word "generic" is being misused.
