If you got married, you wouldn't be happy ever again.
Haha, well, I'm not actually married. I just used it as an example for what people in general consider something to be very happy about. Maybe I should have said "just won lifetime supply of Bacon"-happy or something?
Hmm... that's a riddle.

You can never have enough Bacon.

You have a lifetime supply of Bacon.

Therefore, lifetime of Bacon is not enough Bacon.

Hmmm...

Hurt was already posted, though you should at least
Johnny Cash's version is so much sadder though.
That depends how big of a country fan you are and how much you like lyrics being changed.

Besides, I was more talking to myself with that part, though I do believe if you're going ot talk about a song, use the original.

I never really saw the attraction in that version of Mad World tbh. I generally don't like covers of stuff like this, just because I think it looses something to just be singing someone elses sentiments. Needs to be original to make the cut for me.

The johnny cash version of hurt is kinda different I guess, since he has a whole catalog of sad stuff.
So, just because it's a cover of the original means that it can't hold significance or emotional value? I still think it's pretty sad, even if the video doesn't make much sense. Jules' voice makes it sound pretty depressing.

I wasn't even aware it was a cover. I thought that was the original.

Not only is the song one of the most depressing things ever made, but it also has an equally depressing music video.

Death cab for cutie's Transatlanticism. Who's music is pretty crushing anyways.

And The Road off the soundtrack for the movie The Road.

Just to name a couple.

Hurt was already posted, though you should at least <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF4JaSBu1cI>credit the original band with it, not the cover artist.

<youtube=ijZRCIrTgQc>

Thats my pick. I broke down earlier today when that played, though thats more for personal reasons.
Uh, right, except Reznor himself said that Cash had turned it into his own song since the cover was so good and, in my opinion, so much more profound.

So no, I don't think you should credit the original artist over the cover artist. In fact, I'd say very often a cover can vastly exceed the original.
Of course he did. That was a war he wasnt going to win if he said it wasnt. The Reason Cash's sounds so much better is Cash decided to take it on himself to dictate the flow of the song and add his twang. He was trying to pay off old debts and fines after his run in with drugs.

Besides that, Cash changed the lyrics itself and its the part that everyone loves to quote. He made it a reference to Christ by changing Crown of Shit to Crown of Thorns. That automatically adds the heavy feel, and draws all the people that flip thier shit over that stuff behind it, where on the other hand, you have Trent Reznor, who looks like Marylin Manson half the time, and is part of the rock group scene that A7F likes to populate.

There was no way that was going to be more profound then some old broken down old drug addict with a huge fan base singing with the allude to Christ and A music video that made the song about Johnny Cash himself. Thats why everyone thinks his cover is so much better, because with that vid, it made the song look like it was for Cash, when really Cash just saw a great chance to earn a shit load more money he needed to pay off debts.

Besides, thats all my opinion about whether a cover whether should be used or the original. I'd rather not get crucified just because I dont have this love fetish that everyone else does for the song. its a good song, but I just think the Original Carries so much more then what Cash is going to bring.

Eh...you should have defined "depressing" for me. >w<...

Well, there is this

This video would have Ai Otsuka Cherish on it, but he's changed it to something he and friend wrote up. What really angers me is that Youtube keeps cutting the song down due to the copyright stuff...

Ai Otsuka Cherish itself though is just amazing...and I'm reminded of that video everytime.

Now...there is ths one video which is called "There She Is". It's a series of videos about this Cat and Bunny who develop a relationship in a world were their love shouldn't happen.

Number Four...Paradise has a song with it that only emphasizes on the depression that I feel from it.
