I really suck at shooters but I decided to give Modern Warfare a go on Veteran and after a while, I got all the way to about the second to last level, when my ps3 decided to just die on me and I had to get a new one:( All my hard drive got erased, but my trophies were still there, aside from obviously the one last Veteran one on the last level that I hadn't gotten to yet. I knew Id have to play through the whole game again to get the that level, I was so pissed off and I hadnt touched the single player since.

Also I remember when I was little my brother saved over my Pokemon Snap on the n64. Id spent so long perfecting those stupid little photos of Pokemon, I dont think I'd ever cried so much:(

I lost nearly all of my Games directory once, including a large mod I was working on for Morrowind and another large mod for NWN. I had tried reinstalling Half Life and for some reason it wasn't updating so I uninstalled and then reinstalled it - turns out when I uninstalled the game it decided to take most of the Games directly with it and by the time I noticed a few days later I was unable to retrieve the files. I had an early back up of both on disk but it was too far back to be worthwhile.

On the day after Christmas I was this close to beating assassin's Creed II a couple years ago. But when everyone in my family was using wireless internet (I was on a wirelessxbox adapter) it logged me out during the credits fight.

When I logged back in, it said 'saved file corrupted' and I missed a 100 point achievement. .-.

Pokemon Gold. I had a copy of the game which for some reason just kept deleting the save about 30 hours in, returned it, got Silver. 30 hours in the power goes while I'm saving.

Could have cried. Think I screamed. lol

My younger brother once asked me to save his game in Morrowind, because he had to leave in a hurry. By force of habbit, I accidentally had overwritten my own safe file =<

My red file which I admittedly only spent a weekend on, but it had mew, and a pikachu...that took three hours to find. I hate the transfer pack somedays. Other then that my psp memory stick was stolen out of my locker (leaving the PSP, he was an idiot who did things like this to be an asshat) and with it 3 years of saves, including my very well done crisis core file and Popolocrois a game I could never take seriously.

Neverwinter Nights, not sure which part of it, I think it was one of the expansions of the initial game. I was stupid enough to play through it for hours on end and rely on nothing but autosave. Sure enough my computer or my power decided to crap out and if you remember really old games from that era, they had the lovely habit of corrupting the save file if your power went out during a save/load.

First, there was rage. Then, there was sadness. Ultimately, it ended up something like this:

I have been a compulsive saving freak ever since, hitting Quicksave every 30 seconds or so and saving on separate save files every once in a while.

I remember like 10 years ago or something that my little brother and a friend of his wanted to do something weird to the Playstation (the first one) and the result was that my mem. card got corrupted. I didn't really care for most of the things lost, except for my Final Fantasy 9 save where I almost got every damn thing imaginable (chocobo treasure, ultima weapons, the works). That friend never got near me again...

I has a playthrough of Baten Kaitos Origins. The save file got corrupted.

I played through again, getting further, making sure to have two save files just in case.

A F34KING DOG ATE THE MEMORY CARD. I'm dead serious D:

Playing KH, get up to neverland boss, save and turn off. Little brother has a go and scratches the disc. Next time I'm playing I constantly encounter a black screen after defeating the boss. After getting this a couple of times, I restart the game. Get back to where I was and the same thing happens. First FU moment. Go out and buy a new disc and come back to play and the data is corrupt. Even bigger FU.

I also almost lost all my peacewalker save files on my psp after it accidentally feel off the side of a table but boy was I lucky that I got back my save file which was up to the battle against metal gear.

Pokemon red back when I was about 8 or 9,

I had just caught pokemon number 149/150 (which had taken me about 4 or 6 months which is a really long time for a kid) and I had to go to school, I set the Game Boy down near my bed and left thinking "I'll catch a Tauros later," I get back to find my older brother had erased my file to trade himself a bulbasaur, I was devastated and crying for the better part of the next 2 days

Not a save file- but the screenshot I had showing me being the 2nd highest scoring player in the world on BF1942 Desert Combat Mod. I spent so long learning how to kick ass on those choppers.

Did you know a quick physical shock can erase a SNES cartridge's memory files? I had my copy of Ogre Battle in hand while running on the basement linoleum floor back to my room when I slipped forward and caught myself by smacking the cartridge on the floor. I was relieved when the game loaded up properly, but cried when I saw all the save files were gone. I'd gone through much of the game a couple times already on rentals, and this time now that I owned it only had about 4 missions left in the game, having completed every extra bonus task and character recruitment working towards the good ending.

Either my damn near 100% Khajiit Oblivion save, or my 120 star Super Mario 64 that I lent to a friend.

Edit: 120? - Not sure if that sounds right, but it was however many you could bet :p
