Trying to think of ones that have actually stopped me playing the game due to being too hard.

Most recently it was Tiamat in Darksiders, which is especially annoying as it's one of the first bosses...
The bat? It's easy, so long as you don't try to button mash. You just have to continually throw him away every time he charges. Also, continue to throw the crossblade at him. Do you have the scythe?
Can't get the damn thing to land so I can't try that part, seen it in videos though. I know what I have to do in theory, but the targetting thing is painful. I And no, I haven't seen a scythe yet.

Remember, listen to Kratenser: Put spoiler tags so things aren't ruined for people, like if you were to do something, like reveal what the end boss of Starcraft 2 is, that would just be terrible, you know?

It's not really something ruinious, it was part of the stupid 10 pre-order package.

That's because the scythe was a pre-order to the game. However, Obsidian decided to be merciful and make the code the same for all games. Your choice whether you use it or not.

The code for Death's Scythe is: The Hollow Lord. Be careful, as I believe it is case-sensitive. Just go to the Demon Merchant and look for it in the store. Don't worry, the scythe is free. It is MUCH faster than War's Sword, and is good when surrounded by multiple enemies. One can also switch between weapons in a heartbeat.

Look around you and equip the Crossblade. You should see multiple fires. Right as Tiamat hovers to launch fireballs at you, lock onto one of the tiki torches and then lock onto Tiamat. Throw the Crossblade quickly. The Crossblade will take on the attribute of fire, and then chase Tiamat to the far corners of the universe until it reaches him and burns him. Do this a few times and he will come down to the pedestal. Continue throwing the Crossblade at him, though this time you don't have to charge it in fire. After a couple throws, he will charge you and send you into a quicktime event. DO NOT MASH!!! I cannot stress this enough. You have to have the right timing or this will absolutely destroy your health bar. If you succeed, War will throw the queen of monsters back, ending the event. This should stun Tiamat. Rush her and slash away with your main blade, or Death's Scythe if you prefer. Repeat this throw/charge tactic a few times and Tiamat will perish. This will take a while. Don't get tired and screw up. Hope it helps!

If you ever get stuck on a boss, just come to me for help. I beat the game and know just how completely unintuitive it is beating some bosses.

Pretty sure you get the scythe by buying it from Vulgrim. It shouldn't be hugely necessary.
I'm also pretty sure Tiamat lands on her own at some points for certain attacks. I know I never hit her in the air.

Anyway, even after people have been fighting him for so long and forming all sorts of strategies, there's still no easy-kill for The Patriarch in Killing Floor. To summarize, KF is a co-op game fought in an "arena" map. After the last wave, The Patriarch attacks you, and he can take down a party member (permanently) pretty quickly if he gets close. He's also the only enemy to have long-range weapons; a chaingun and rocket launcher. A direct hit from the rocket launcher will instantly kill you, and even splash damage usually takes out all your armor and 80% of your health. And of course, he takes lots and lots of damage to die.

The two Predator youngbloods and the elder Predator from the new AVP on Nightmare mode screwed me up something fierce. They can't be assassinated, recover from a heavy stun very fast, use their plasma bolts with extreme accuracy, and if you die once, you start back at the begining of the level, fighting android snipers.

Oh yes. Your going to die... A LOT!
(Cookie for refrence)
Lordkat! Were gonna play AVP until we win!

The final boss of Lost Planet 1 on the hardest difficulty. The last stage is so different from the rest of the game and the boss is retarded. Sooo powerful and the fact that your health constantly drains doesn't help matters at all.

I love boss fights but this one pissed me off as did one against a massive spider tank thing, its been 5 years at least since I played it so, I'm a little fuzzy on the details.

Snorlax and Pikachu in Dark Souls took me a while to defeat solo as did Four Kings. Both battles taught me a lot about adapting my play style depending on the enemy. Having a few weapons to consider etc The fact that I'm still playing DS just to try new builds is a testament to the game's design, combat in DS just keeps me coming back.

As a huge Ninja Gaiden fan, I can relate to people's Alma woes, Ninja Gaiden 2, great as it is to me, has much tougher (cheaper haha) bosses in my opinion though. Alexei, Elizabet and Dagra Dai all piss me off from time to time. They have some really difficult to dodge grabs and projectiles.

Ramble over

Nebilim from Tales of the Abyss, closely followed by KH1/2 Sephiroth.

I remember being so amped for this fight. I even got a friend to control a second character cause I thought this was going to be a struggle for survival.

We ended up wiping her out with almost no trouble. I can't remember what level I was, so maybe I was overleveled, who knows.

Optional bosses are used to getting pretty over-hyped. I made it after a few tries, but I do remember leveling up like hell for it, and taking a lot of time during the fight as well. The good thing is you can distract Nebilim with any of your party members while Tear or someone else is on healing duty. Sephiroth is brutally and specifically dedicated to a one on one with Sora. Maybe I should vote him Hardes Boss Fight instead?

Now KH Sephiroth I can agree with. I never beat him in II and it wasn't for lack of trying.

Has no one mentioned Sephiroth yet!?
He was the reason I have 94 Hours on KH2, and that's the Profile on NORMAL Difficulty!
Uh, I DID mention Sephiroth. On the first page.

Although I was talking about his KH1 version. You could debate me on this one, but I'd say his KH1 version is ALOT harder than KH2. Mostly because you don't have reaction commands, and your skills in KH1 aren't as good as the ones in KH2.

Seriously, Trinity Limit makes him MUCH more bearable in 2.
To me, Reflect/ra/ga marks the whole difference between KH1 Seph and KH2 Seph. The latter becomes a cinch if you time Reflect properly and keep a steady MP. In KH1 there's no such spell, which makes the fight considerably harder. And yeah, the Reaction Commands help a LOT as well, but they're also kind of balanced as well with Seph's attacks (I remember KH2 Seph always starts with a blink-and-you'll-miss attack you're supposed to dodge at once or Sora will die a second into the battle).

Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts. What a mother fucker he is. I never managed to beat him, but I plan to give it another shot with the HD version.

Haha yeah the Lost Planet final boss was crazy. Fighting in the sky with laser sword wielding robots.

He is really bastard... maxing all your characters to even have a chance of beating him is annoying and he can kill you pretty much whenever he wants.

The strategy to beating him is also very much luck based and you cannot go in the fight with any advantage whatsoever.

Xenoblade Chronicles:
Disciple Loritha is easily one of the hardest, most broken boss fights I've ever encountered, especially because of the acid pools and gas clouds.

I don't know if he's the most difficult boss, but he definitely is frustrating -- Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 9.

GOD DAMN THAT X RAY IS RIDICULOUS

Big Arm in the standalone cartridge/game of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Not only does he have a small hit box, but he is the only robot that Eggman/Robotnik has made that can grab you as Super Sonic and cause you to lose your rings and your Super Sonic form.

They nerfed him greatly when you fight him as Knuckles in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and he was nerfed even more in Sonic Generations. XD

My heart goes out to this guy:

That boss is nothing compared to the one in the first game, and the Enigmatic Soldier in Final Mix + is even worse.

This fucking guy.

I can't even remember anymore, my rage has clouded the memory. All I recall is endless respawns and a grab attack that he usually used at the very beginning of the fight that was virtually unavoidable where he'd grab you, chomp your fucking torso, then smash you into the wall, that would take out the majority of your health.

I only beat him because eventually I got lucky and he didn't use the grab right away.

I honestly don't understand what is going on in these videos. It's just standing there doing nothing. I remember the damn thing being so overly aggressive that I expected Ryu must've done it a great personal wrong. From what it looks like in the comments on the video, other people had the same experience.
