NGE Started off okay, then became pretentious, masturbatory garbage in the second half.

Elfen Lied disappointed me because it was listed as "horror" and even "psychological horror", when it never got any scarier than a lukewarm glass of milk. And because it was fucking terrible.

Ghost Hound was great until the end. One of the best OPs I've ever heard, creepy and stylish sound design/BGM, interesting characters, an interesting plot, hokey Fringe-style pseudoscience.. and then it just sort of stops.

I'll still put a spoiler warning here though:
Nothing is explained or resolved, we don't get to find out how anything was fixed or how certain people were cured of their afflictions. Tarou walks into the shrine, and everything is just fine again.

I can only imagine they ran out of time or something, cause it's one of the most rushed happy endings in recent memory.

Linebarrels of Iron. God that was awful.

Terribly animated mechs, an ugly art style and a main character that was just an asshole for the sake of being an asshole? Yeah, I'll pass.
Glad I not the only one who hated that piece of sh*t of an anime and thought the main character was an asshole. I seriously wanted to punch that fool in the face.
I got about 4 episodes in, realized his "sense of justice" was just him being a dick and that none of the other characters weren't even remotely interesting. I'm glad I got out when I did. Also if I had one word to describe the art it would be "dirty."
yeah, that one is just plain bad, but that one that really disappointed me was "The Skull Man". it looked all dark and complex, but it was just slow, I quit 9 episodes in because NOTHING HAD HAPPEDNED.

Clannad After Story.

Almost great, but the biggest shit pile of an ending ever. A cheap twist to back out of an otherwise great story.

'But the Manga...' Shut up! It still sucks, and isn't worth watching halfway through.
Clannad wasn't based on a manga. And After Story is an incredible anime.

Animes like Bleach, Naruto, and even Case Closed. I initially liked them, but then they began to drag on FOREVER, up to 300 to 600 episodes with no end in sight!
This.

These series started well...now you have to have a plot for the most remote of people or for the guy that will die in ~2 episodes...

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. I think I have said enough. Not that the concept seemed promising in the first place, but damn even my low expectations got disappointed.

Baccano! Not because it was bad, but because it was SO BADASS that I was literally cursing at my screen when it ended at 16 episodes. That was one HELL of a train-ride, and totally warrents a second season.

Clannad was based on a manga, check the wiki. And After Story was incredible, till the ending made the whole last half pointless.

The anime was announced a week after the manga ended, right before the After story manga started : P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clannad_anime
Did you read that properly? The manga was an adaptation itself. The Clannad anime and manga were based on the Clannad visual novel. The anime may have come out after the manga but the base material was the game. I know this because I've played said visual novel and the story (for the main arc) is very much the same, After Story is also based on the After Story in the visual novel. The ending of After Story wasn't some cheap twist they thought up on the spot it was basically what happened in the visual novel (which sets that ending up throughout).

I'll admit even I found the last few episodes slightly annoying but I wouldn't say that the whole second half of the AS series was rubbish, the episodes with Ushio were brilliant and really moving, although I get what you mean by making the last half pointless.

Don't know if any of that was coherent... But there you have it!

I thought Full Metal Panic was awesome, why ruin it with forced romance?

For me, it's probably Claymore, now don't get me wrong, I still like it, but the series really lost steam about halfway through and began to drag on quite badly.
I wholeheartedly agree with that, up to episode 8, the show was insanely good, then it just sorta stagnated.

My vote goes for Hellsing, I just found it extremely boring. There weren't enough opportunities for Hellsing to be cool, I really didn't care less about the organisation...

It is hard to say disappointing as I never have a clue about what is going on, but I like the pretty colors.

***Wait does Avatar count as anime? If so, did the live action movie count towards disappointing anime property?

doesn't the ending where the guy in the top hat says "fuck you endings are boring. Make one up for yourself." piss you off. Just finished that one myself and it was really good.
Most Dissapointing Samurai Champloo, I was so ready to love this series when I started and stuck with it for a while. But after about 10 episodes I decided that the flimsy bond holding them together (sunflower samurai) sucked, and I was not the least bit invested in what they were doing. I didn't expect it to be as good as bebop (which I didn't like at first but grew to love) but I thought It would be okay. Well to be honest, it's tolerable, but damn, damn.

Lucky Star...
Okay a little back story behind my hatred towards Lucky Star, A friend (who is female) was an avid fan of the show, she tried to convince me to watch it and when i finally did (after all the 'oh its awesome though' , 'just give it a go' ) it was so fucking boring, nothing actually happened, the show itself looked like somebody ate a bucket full of skittles and throw up on a sheet of paper then recorded its motions. the voices sounded like a mouse getting their balls fondled by a fucking G-clamp. The attempts at humour normally fell flat due to the lack of understanding of Japanese culture, i find it rather hard to believe the show made it past the pilot and has a fanbase and i have really had enough of the "the characters look cute though" although to say it more accurately coming from them "the anime girls in lucky star are kawaii desu nii"

I see what you mean. First the visual novel, then manga, then anime...

I loved the anime, but the last few episodes made me feel my tears were for nothing. I was hoping for something other than 'it just didn't happen'. Glowing lights aside, I guess I just wanted something different.

Considering how much emotion I had invested into the series, and how much I disliked the ending, I call it my 'Most Disappointing Anime'.
Ok ok I think we understand each other now :p
I know what you mean, I felt almost as happy as I did cheated with the twist, it is quite annoying the way it happens and sort of dismisses all the problems. I think it's dealt with better in the visual novel, but I hardly expect anybody to invest in playing that, it's quite time consuming!
I understand why you'd call it disappointing then, I still loved it though, it's a really moving story. And I couldn't call those last few episodes bad simply because of how overjoyed I was with everything being ok again! Also, I knew it was coming so I had a different perspective I guess, but seeing how much I cried in the build up to the ending, I totally see why you'd feel angry that your tears were for nothing!

High School of the Dead... It was interesting at first (beside of the fact that is another take on the overused Zombie Genre) but after a while it becomes just shots at huge tits (see the nurse) and girls taking showers... It's not even a good contrast to survival horror... It's just dumb.
Indeed. It basically just turned into "Fan Service: The Series".

Which is a shame, because at first it was rather enjoyable.
Not if look past the fanservice. it's one of my all time favorites.

For me, Gunslinger Girl. The manga was amazing, but the anime just killed it.

EDIT totally forgot Naruto. Words can not describe my hatred for this.

I'll say Dragon ball Z.

If you watch Dragon ball and moved onto DBZ, you'll be surpised about how werid it is. Dragon Ball was about getting stronger and ending the Red Ribbon threat and for the most part they did it.

Then DBZ moved on and wham! Goku is a Alien! He has a brother! there is now a threat to the planet and all that.

I just like it, when it was simple you know?

Well it's kind of ok that Baccano! ended when it did, at least we didn't have to watch that mouse's side of the story...

Oh and couldn't you just ignore the Samurai Champloo bonds and focus on the badassery? :p

ANY ANIME WHERE THEY DON'T ALL DIE 'CUZ ANIME SUCKS TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

In all seriousness though, I'd have to say Claymore. I loved the anime but it ended too early which meant I had to read the badly paced manga for my Claymore fix...
Plus I kinda got annoyed by the fight scenes near the end *20 minutes of characters attacking each other and doing seemingly no damage whatsoever*

God im glad im not the only one that completely hated Elfen Lied. I only watched one episode, couldnt make myself watch another one. The first half was decent, but when she met those other 2 guys and that girl acted like a fucking cat, it was just really really really annoying and insanely boring.
