IMO nothing comes close to the soundtrack of Shadow of the Colossus. It's beautifully composed and is appropriately epic in all the right places, adding to the experience in every way possible, without detracting anything.
Let me help you visualize.
You start off, alone in a wide-stretching land, utterly devoid of life. An unearthly voice(s) beckons you to your objective, so you mount up your faithful horse and set out on your journey.
After a long trek, you discover the lair of the beast which you have hunted and instantly, without even dismounting your horse you are attacked, the first colossal attack heralding a battle twixt a mighty beast and desperate hero.
Dodging it's hefty assaults to the ground beneath you, you circle the monster, desperately searching for a point of attack whilst screaming for your mount to aid you. As you leap and sprint, you glimpse a feint glimmer of weakness under it's fur. From horseback, you attack with a well timed arrow, allowing a brief chance to jump and clamber upon the beastly foe. Grasping it's fur between your fingers and holding on for dear life, you slowly scale the beast to a powerful crescendo, wherein you can land your fatal blow.
Finally, your adversary on it's knees, you deliver the final blow, weakening it to the point where the life that filled it's eyes slips away into darkness. As you fall to the ground the monstrosity you battled to fiercely falls, limp and lifeless, completely helpless as it's weight pulls it crashing to the earth. It is finally over. The Colossus is dead.
