A fantastic story, gorgeous looking game which is still looks good, and is still playable today. Some epic battles as well.

Planetside was a very good game with a unique feel to it, the main issue I had though was that it was a little too 'rock paper scissors' for my liking.minignu said:Planetside in it's heyday. There's something about being a tiny cog in a huge MMOFPS war machine that is utterly epic.
And the sad thing is, very few people on this forum will have ever played it.
Never played the 360 version but indeed using a keyboard to steer it was absolutely horrible, at high speed the slightest tap in one direction would send it skidding off into a wall on the other side of the map. To complete that section you pretty much have to go as slow as possible, edging around any obstacles.Gildan Bladeborn said:I don't know if they fixed the controls for the PC or if the non-analog nature of the keyboard interface makes the difference, but I never had that sort of problem controlling the Mako at all (I've played through that section of the game several times now and I never even come close to failing it). The way turning worked was pretty wonky though, since that's not at all how cars operate, but I got used to it.
Holy fucking shit that looks awesome. I'll give it a read through in a minute although I think I might end up regretting the switch to Win7 recently.Gildan Bladeborn said:Then allow me to make your freaking day: You don't need one! Behold the wonders of the Freespace 2 Source Code Project [http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Getting_started]!
Ever since Volition released the source code to the community, enterprising modders have been hard at work updating and improving it extensively - the end result is a version that runs on modern machines and looks like it could have been released a great deal more recently than the decade ago it originally hit shelves.
Just scroll down through that page and you'll find all the relevant links to get yourself going with it [small](including a link to Good Old Games should you find yourself needing to buy a copy (for a measly $6))[/small], and that's just the tip of the iceberg as there are a ton of mods and several total conversions of note. The SCP has/is also been/being developed for the Mac OS and Linux, just in case you aren't running Windows at all these days.
Stumbling upon the SCP was one of my happiest days in semi-recent memory, so it's always nice to pass that unmitigated joy along to others.

In SMT Nocturne you can fight god with Dante, Beezlebub, and Metatron if you so desire.IanBrazen said:Xenogears (look it up)

If it was hard to tell, I agree. The Kingdom Hearts games are the best once you can get past the Disny thing.
I would rather just have a giant robot.cj_iwakura said:In SMT Nocturne you can fight god with Dante, Beezlebub, and Metatron if you so desire.IanBrazen said:Xenogears (look it up)
