The Day The Earth Stood Still
We left the theater making fun of the movies. So much product placement that I could've barfed up McDonalds and picked up my LG phone. Pfft, that movie was pretty ugh. I would've rather waited to watch it on DVD or something. At least I could've returned it and got my money back.

Oh and Juno... I saw it and I was like "Oh. This was cool but not THAT cool. But apparently all the cool kids HAD to see it... So glad I saw it online and not in the theater... Oh yeah, Superbad too. It was funny but not SUPERFANTASICALHOLYSHITAWESOMESAUCE. It had it's funny moments. Oh well.

Quantum of solace, they hyped that movie up so much. I reckon Daniel Craig is the the best james bond but they give him crappy roles.
Same cept it is soley because Daniel Craig is the WORST Bond. He is a fine action guy, and I would not despise him if he was never Bond probably, but change is good sometimes but not all the time. Bond should be Bond, and they tried to make him NOT Bond and succeeded. And that is not a good thing.
James Bond died in Casino Royale..funny enough its suppose to be his first mission...The thing is Craig and the two new Jame Bonds arent Jame Bonds AT ALL! They are Bourne movies...Want a Bond movie? Watch the Sean Connery age...those at least feel like you watching a movie about a spy...

Hahaha. That's funny. Silly Keanu and his Scientology. Of course he'd be all over that movie!

Dark Knight

It was not a bad movie but it was, by far, not the greatest movie ever as everyone says it is. The plot was convulated, the ending was depressing and unsatisfying, I hate the Batman with him using his "grunty" voice in a failed attempt to sound menancing, and while Ledger's portrayal was admirable, I felt his material could have been written better. It baffles me how people keep saying it's the greatest movie they've ever seen when I've seen much more epic movies that were written better and had much more talented actors.

Maybe people have bad long term memories when it comes to movies?

I would have to go with 2001: A Space Odyssey. I don't understand why that is the high water mark for science fiction.

Well im sorry but I cannot accept that LOTR was overrated, perhaps its referred too as a fantastic series to often considering that its really a pretty dedicated cult film.

While I enjoyed pulp fiction and kill bill immensely I can completely empathise that they were both overrated.

But one of the true heartbreakers for being overhyped and an utter let down was the simpsons movie. I mean the simpsons governed my upbringing, they made better gags in regular episodes than in that piece of crap.

And finally every Will ferrel film other than anchorman and blades of glory, i kinda liked those.

Im sorry but Transformers was a big dissapointment for me. First of all, Shia lebuff!? Second of all, its like they took everything thats cool about transformers, and put it in the back seat to yet another love story. I get it, girls and boys like each other. Not every movie needs to remind me of this. Which reminds me, Pearl Harbor.

EDIT: Peter Jackson's LOTR was subpar.

Donny Darko.
All these people talk about how deep and amazing it is, and it wasn't either of those things.
It was bland, boring, and pretentious.
This statement is full of truth. You forgot to add that the movie is movie about teen angst with gothic undertones just for the sake of making a movie about angst.

I don't see that Day the Earth Stood Still was overrated; I'm pretty sure everyone said that it was a steaming ball of pig snot from the get-go, (even if Keanu Reeves isn't a scientologist, I still hate him for how he mangled Don John in the Brannaugh remake of Much Ado About Nothing. So wooden and dry he would've caught fire if someone touched him with a spark... and I WISH THEY HAD.)

I agree with the person who brought up Citizen Kane, but if we're going to dig back into the classics, I think there are probably a few more that should be dragged out into the light: Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, to name just two.

I might get shot over this, but the Godfather and it's subsequent sequels. I was in high school, and all the faux "movie buffs" were always like, "you haven't seen it? It's the best movie ever." "It's like the perfect movie!" To that I refer you to my middle finger.

Oh and while I'm at it, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" sucked. The black knight scene was funny, but the rest of the movie is crap. So, you know, suck on that.
I'm sorry, matey, but you deserve to be keelhauled for those remarks. The Godfather is one of the deepest series of all time, for it put a human face on criminals. And the Holy Grail, well, that was an extremely inventive telling of King Arthur, I can tell you.

2001 A space odyssey bored me to tears. I can appreciate it as a technical accomplishment with some great music, but I have no incentive to ever watch it again certainly.
This, this, this. I had to watch it for a media class, it felt like I'd been there for six hours just watching the intro section with the chimp panorama.
Exactly that...

Also i was disappointed when i finally saw Kubrick's Version of Shining...the Book is just so much better.

But oh well, there is still Dr. Strangelove to appreciate
I don't get it, 2001 is one of my favorite movies.

Anyway, my most overrated movie would be The Dark Knight, not because it was bad but because it was so massively hyped and raved over.
