How can this award NOT go to Psychonauts?

It is easily one of the best games of the past decade and yet has never gotten the amount of plays it should have.

And even still, after all these years of people saying its great, telling people they should play it, I'd say a good chunk of gamers still haven't and still have no interest in playing it.
Its a must play in my opinon.

Brutal Legend seems to get a lot of hate. You can't really say it's the game's fault that you were disappointed because you didn't know what freaking genre it was.

EDIT: Also Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. Yeah a lot got cut, but it's still really fun and I've found myself actually replaying it more than KotOR I.
Brutal Legend was'nt very fun.
The concept was great, and whatever genre it pretended to be, it could've been more.
It was a mediocre game at best, and not something you expect from Tim Schafer.

As for KOTOR II, hell yeah.
Awesome game, replayed it like crazy too.

Somebody is trying awfully hard to start a flame war. If you don't like a game, don't complain about it. Makes everyones experience here much more enjoyable.
You just rplied... So what does that say?

My experiece here is just fine. I just hate fallout.
Me replying is politely telling you to cut the shit. I don't care about the game either way, but you are not the only one on this website. If it was one of those idiotic threads about, what game do you hate?, shoot for it. But seeing how this thread has nothing to do with games you hated (in fact the opposite), control yourself.

That to hard to ask of you?

To be fair brutal legend didnt even know what genre it was.
It seemed pretty clear that it was attempting to be an action/RTS hybrid. Yeah, it definitely had some flaws, but it was pretty much the first attempt at that sort of thing, so that, the very original premise, and Tim Schafer's writing made up for it for the most part, at least in my opinion.

Are you sure that wasn't just an attempt to fill in the plot holes? The problem's not that stuff got cut - KotOR has an entire planet missing, yet there's only 1 tiny reference to it in the whole of the game - just that they left such an incoherent mess at the end of it.

They attempted too much (3 villains is not necessary: Kreia and Sion or Nihilus would have been just fine) and then they got stuck with a stupid deadline (LA's fault admittedly). If I didn't know it was there, I wouldn't miss it; but they let you get halfway through the HK-50 factory quest before it just ends.

The game had the potential to be better, but it fell flat on it's arse.

Also: I want to know who's the idiot that decided to reveal over and over again that Kreia used to be with Sion and Nihilus? Great character idea with a twist that was revealed very early, and then over and over again.

I can't count how many times I've had this debate on this website!
It might just be that I didn't actually know about everything that got cut until after finishing it, but I did actually enjoy KotOR II. I thought that the villains worked fairly well, I liked most of the characters and planets, and it added some nice new features, so I'd say it's a good game.

okay i'll say

Final fantasy 8 - its a great game but many tend to ***** about it being too overly complicated and the plot making no sense to actually see that.

Alpha protocol - This is like a bourne version of mass effect, i seriously couldn't see why this wasn't as popular as it should have been.

Mag - best damn online Fps i have ever played. I cry salty tears when i see the player numbers in this game, damn you call of duty!

Mirrors edge - the most original, breathtaking game i have ever played this gen.

baten kaitos - One the greatest underrated rpg gems to ever grace the gamecube.

The darkness - a great fps with a very moving underrated story.

Casual Shinji

Should've gone before we left.

Freedom Fighters...need I say more? Also, where the hell is the sequel?
That was one hell of a fun little game.

Another one would be Silent Bomber. I only ever played the demo since I was never able to find the full game, but it was great arcade shooter...I mean, bomber.

It's a great, fun little game, but the controls sometimes... are quite awkward (i have only played it on pc).

The Darkness.

No one talks about it, and it's one of my favorite games of all time :(

And to a lesser extent, maybe Ninja Gaiden.
Everyone hated the Darkness. I wish i knew why. It tied in well with the novels, and the gameplay was quite fun.
Then add to that Mike Patton playing the Darkness... what's not to love?

Underrated as in not talked about but awesome or underrated as in poorly received but actually good?

If it's the latter, I'd say FF8, but I just saw that it has an aggregate score of 89%, so it seems just a few people ***** loudly about it and most actually like it. Deadliest Warrior would be my pick, it's not like any current fighting games out there, but that's what makes it good, and people are criticising it for not being Soul Calibur.
FF8 has a moronic plot a stupid magic gathering system and characters who aren't likeable, and people ***** about it because the fanboys of the game won't shut up about it being the best game ever (after 7 of course because fanboys won't shut up about it either) and it gets quite aggravating. If we are gonna mention any FF game here we should mention FF tactics. And not the advance ones.

However, my pick for most underrated game would have to be... actually, I'll be honest. I can't think of one. Actually, wait no. Duke Nukem 2. After duke nukem 3d came out the dos Duke nukem games got shoved into a corner, and people barely even remember they existed, let alone the fact that they were good. I keep seeing people say that Duke Nukem Forever is a sequal to just one single game, never, ever mentioning that duke nukem has been around longer then 1996.

Ah yes animal crossing. I may still be playing that if my brother decided to pay his share of the mortgage in wild world!

Anyway i've had fun with the Banjo & Kazooie: N&B, so I guess i'll go with that.

The true words of a forum troll.

Actually, the people who don't reply to you are the ones who just don't like getting involved in flame wars. I personally just don't like people going out of their way to rag on a game (like you).

Also, maybe you should have taken a little precaution seeing how you just got probation for literally the exact same thing, but seeing how you obviously don't care for a ban/suspension, I might as well just report. Gotta grow up sometime pal. If what they say is true, you won't have anonymity for too much longer.

-Total Annihilation is an amazing PC-RTS made by (now defunct) Cavedog. Mechs as infantry, robotic tanks, and drone aircraft with a unique resource management system.
-The Legend of Dragoon is something I ALWAYS bring up on these threads. It's an amazing 4 disc PS1-RPG made by Sony, and no one else. Great combat sysem that makes you feel involved,an inventory that forces you to be tactical on what you take with you (32 slots, does not include picked up equipment),and an AMAZING story with great character development. Ladies and gentlemen,it tops every Final Fantasy game to date, and most other RPGs but one series,as far as I'm concerned.
-And that one series is the PC-RPG series Gothic. Gothic 3 not included in this statement. Made by German developer Pirhana Bytes,it's a brutaly hard series that has an amazing story and stunning world, and the combat is all about how you time your attacks, rather than how fast you can attack or what attack you use.
I love these games to death, and I bet those that played them do,too. If you hadn't,I'm sorry, but you're missing out.

FF8 has a moronic plot
It has a great plot, it just takes until CD3 to get going.

a stupid magic gathering system
The magic gathering system is brilliant, it actually results in the trope of magicians who can cast spells any time they want but choose not to (usually for plot reasons).

and characters who aren't likeable,
Some characters are likeable, others aren't. If all characters are likeable it's usually pretty boring and lacking in depth.

and people ***** about it because the fanboys of the game won't shut up about it being the best game ever (after 7 of course because fanboys won't shut up about it either)
Hardly anyone continually talks about FFVIII being the best game ever, that's only true for VII.

and it gets quite aggravating. If we are gonna mention any FF game here we should mention FF tactics. And not the advance ones.
Oh the irony of a fanboy complaining about one game getting constantly touted while taking any opportunity to tout another one.

I would have assumed you'd already reported me. Seeing as you have that stick up your ass n all.

It was a joke. Hence the phrasing. If I'd have wanted to start a flame war I'd have been a little more descriptive than that.

And the less people like you who over react to every little thing you don't like. The less hassle people will get on forums like these.

If you don't like a post... Move along. Or report. Whatever. It's no skin off my nose. Just don't go forum SS on me and start with the 'You need to grow up speeches.' This is the internet. This site is purely recreational. In other words... Lighten up.

Ask yourself one big ole fat question.

If you hadn't replied to me with all the grace of a smug child who decided they're going to personally see to it everyone act's like care bears. Would this even be an issue? I seriously doubt it. Most people are thick skinned enough to take a joke in their stride.

You're quick to point the finger. But you've got some growing up to do yourself.

?Actually, the people who don't reply to you are the ones who just don't like getting involved in flame wars.?

By your own criteria you wanted this to become a flame war.

Let it go next time. Or just report and move on.
Well, a good portion of the time reporting does nothing.

I asked you rather politely to not start something that was stupid and pointless.

Your retort was (paraphrasing of course)"I can be an asshole to whomever I want because I don't take life as seriously as you."

And then you are trying to tell me that I need to grow up. I'm not gonna lie and tell you I don't care, I just generally dislike when people make my place of comfort and tranquility and try to make start shit with people. I also admit to being a little over sensitive to trolls. Have you once even considered that maybe you are in the wrong here?

You already have gotten into trouble for bashing the game once, and now you are doing it again and someone else is getting angry at you for it. Still no?

And the less people like you who over react to every little thing you don't like. The less hassle people will get on forums like these
I won't even begin to go into the bigotry and hypocrisy of this statement. Saying "I could say the exact same thing to you", doesnt quite do it justice here.

If you hadn't replied to me with all the grace of a smug child who decided they're going to personally see to it everyone act's like care bears.
Oh God forbid us young adults should act respectful and polite to one another. Only little kids do that...

It was a joke
And if thats what you think a joke was...... Something along the lines of you should Watch more comedy... I don't have a quirky retort for that.

I think I have made my point, go ahead and spew some more bullshit about me taking things to seriously, I accepted that a while back and quite frankly, I don't give a shit. Most likely won't read it, but if it helps you blow off some steam, go for it.

It still amuses me how kids like you have these little lives on the internet and think that being a little shit talker because mommy and daddy will never see.

Diablo II is underrated. People write it off as a crappy rpg but it is clearly the foundation of World of Warcraft.

Ah sorry bout that...

Emmmmmmmmmm

Phantom dust for my money.

Such a fantastic story. A fuckin awesome game. And really pretty good graphics for it's time... I bet about 2 people who read this have even heard about it.
Ah yes. The wonderful little game that a hidden Japanese demo made it to the US Xbox magazine only to be released later in North America for the English speaking folk. I may not agree, but I can't think of a better option at the moment.
I got fucking double-ninja'd to Phantom Dust. I don't think I've ever been even single-ninja'd to it before.

This makes me very happy. Phantom Dust is my favorite game ever. Well maybe the Oblivion Construction Set and some of the stuff it produces, but none had quite the epicness of fucking someone up by using Heat then that bitchin Octolaser. Or Rail Gun. My friend who I got hooked on the game hated me so much for ever having gotten Rail Gun.
