I'd have to give it to Northernlion, he does a mix between let's plays and first impression videos.

Im not sure if he is underrated or not but Jesse Cox (youtube omfgcata) is one of my favourites as he is energetic and funny and actually seems to genuinely enjoy what he is doing.
Got to agree with you there although as far as I am aware he is quite well known. He also does a podcast which has just been renamed to the Co-optional podcast if I remember correctly with total biscuit and dodger lee where they have a special guest and spend a couple of hours talking about video games. The first one since the rename was especially good as they had someone who works in the game industry on as the guest so I learned quite a bit at the same time. Anyway enough on that if you want to check out the podcast it is on a recently created you tube channel called Polaris which also has a number of good lpers and lots of news pieces unfortunately pewdiepie is one of them :( I will post the link for anyone that is interested, http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSvQyDawUyfXzrSq4dTVraQ
Yeah I usually watch the podcasts a few days after they do them because of time zones. The guest of the first co optional podcast was James Portnow from extra credits. I follow Jesse , TB and Dodger as well.

Allosaurus Rex is someone who does video game narrative analysis, and does a damn fine job of it in my opinion.

He's criminally underrated, and I recommend anyone reading this to check him out!

But seriously. Humbled. And being mentioned next to someone like Brutalmoose....Thank you!

On the topic: Check Letsplayforum. It's the haven for underrated LPer's, even though they won't let us join since we aren't one person.

I'll second the Jefmajor vote aswell.

All these 3 are Youtube based.

The Yahtzee Let's Plays are surprisingly underrated considering how popular ZP is. The most recent one (Normailty) is 3 hours long, but some of the funniest stuff around. The second commenter, Gabe, has some great stuff, though his pseudo-intellectualism somehow makes him even more abrasive than Yahtzee.
Normality was pretty interesting, I like Yahtzee's playthroughs. I'm surprised he doesn't seem to do anything to actually promote his stuff.

Thank you, it's actually gonna be the first game we beat most likely. Unless Infinite is shorter than I initially thought.

ME!

Just kidding. I'm awful and haven't updated in over a year. And then my saves were deleted by accident. Sigh.

I just realised I don't actually follow any LP:ers or reviewers on a regular basis, but I will agree with OP that Modestly ProphItic are pretty good - the little I've watched of them. As soon as my internet is out of bandwidth jail I'm going to continue watching their Bioshock: infinite series, although I got annoyed at the fellah who'd played it before just rushing through things at times.
Thanks for watching, We've slowed our pace since then, we even had a full episode where we recapped and did some research on Elizabeth's stuff, as well as Songbird.

Oooh, nice! Now that I've been let out of Bandwidth Jail on good behaviour I'll be watching again. I really do find the symbolism bit the most interesting, which is why when your friend rushed past all these interesting bits I got a bit annoyed. I even watched your series on symbolism in Majora's Mask and found it fascinating, and I've never even played that game.

Keep up the good work!

For a let's player it would certainly have to be Christopher Odd. IMO one of the best let's players I have ever had the pleasure of watching. He has what I like to call the Holy Trinity: Excellent voice, excellent video quality and excellent personality. Doesn't speak over dialogue and actually immserses himself into the game. And can be pretty funny at times.

I'm tempted to add him to original post...he's very good, very professional. Almost oddly professional for a let's player.

MadDjinn's [http://www.youtube.com/user/SBFMadDjinn]Civilization 5 Diety Let's Plays are pretty much unparalleled. The guy does 20-30 part series of most of the civs as well as quite a few scenarios, all of them on the highest difficulty. Plus his Beyond the Monument series will basically tell you all you ever wanted to know about high level Civ. He also does other 4x games like Endless space and Fallen Enchantress, plus some Xcom on the side.

Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed Squiddish's [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ChC5EykgP8&list=PLD165D73513CDE7FF&index=1] Dark Souls playthrough, though admittedly I haven't watched tons of his other stuff.

Oh I know, Game Grumps!

Oh wait...underrated.

I kinda like this guys formal presentation, it's pretty pre-meditated stuff, but not bad.

Certainly obscure enough, I think peeps will like her. She updates constantly, and is very thorough with her stuff, and plays some rarely seen games.

SomecallmeJohnny. He recently reviewed some modern games but he really sticks to classic games. He's funny but he's aiming to be closer to a serious reviewer.

Pretty...professional. I like his style and voice, and he's much more...journalistic than most professional journalists. And seeing his vid on minecraft was interesting, since...well, no one is ever 'new' to minecraft these days. It highlighted some issues with the games lack of conveyance.

Also, OP, thank you for sharing Modestly ProphItic (and their weird-ass name). I'm...addicted to their Spyro vids now. This is some funny stuff. Hope they get more attention.

Dat intro, and the general conversations... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLUlEwdyyKw&feature=c4-overview&list=UUwo00_IcpxxiXpbvxdMhkRw

And Brutalmoose is classic, if you like PBG or Jontron, you'll love his stuff.

I'd like to put a call out there to CaptnDuck [http://www.youtube.com/user/captnduck]. Sure he was mainly known for his excellent tutorials for Dwarf Fortress, but more lately he's been doing playthroughs of games, and has been streaming plays of Civ V. Plus he's got a pretty nice accent to listen to.

And much like that earlier guy I totally won't use this thread to advertise my o [http://www.youtube.com/user/Chessrook44]wn LP channel... coughcough...
