All the females, as they're typically one-dimensional, subservient carboard cut-outs. Created simply to pan to the basement dwelling males who long for women with no backbone and play to the imagination of confused weaboo females. I'm not calling anyone here that, it's just what they're designed to do.

If a fictional character can speak to me, than shes certainly more than one dimensional.

See the word 'typically', I'm not suggesting they're all like that, I'm sure many of them are slightly more realistic and are thus unlikeable for some other reason (they probably murder people or allow some stupid shit to happen). I was just using hyperbole.

A fair call. Like most things in the Anime world, Sturgeon's Law applies. 90% of it total crap while the rest of it isn't. What series or films fit where is always a case of taste and preference. And indeed the intense samey type of women you see in Anime makes the aversions to that, like Integra Hellsing, stand out more as characters.

But Wrath from FMA. F*cking Wrath. A whiny little kid who seemed to beat up everyone else and refused to die. The one point I thought he was finally going to die (*SPOILER ALERT*) at the hands of Lust, he turns thing around from out of nowhere and kills her. Then Gluttony (My favourite character) goes all emo and stupid. F*cking Wrath...

Yeah I really didn't like him and was sad to see Lust go as I didn't really like the other homunculi.

My problem is how little incentive there is for the medium to change. The depiction of women in this role and expressing these values has caused outrage/at least someone whining in other areas (movies, videogames, music). Whereas with anime no-one seems to mind. It's probably more an issue with the peculiar Japanese society than with the genre. It is likely, however, that many fans of anime are drawn to it by this very thing.

I certainly won't dispute that there are genres within the medium - even several of them - which cater to base and old-fashioned views on women, and that some fans are attracted to this (as well). And that this aspect can even in small ways enter respectable Anime as well, such as Death Note, making them worse for it.

That's not really what I'm there for though and thus I generally avoid these genres unless they've got other redeeming qualities outweighing it, but having a fairly liberal outlook on fictional stories in any medium - including this one - I don't really consider their existence a problem; each to his own, as long as no real persons get hurt, and you're free to stay away from it.

I meant the poetry you posted was one talking of patience and restraint. Which is what you showed. I assumed you were calling him a troll. Whereas if you'd posted something suggesting his post was brilliant I'd understand the sarcasm.

I did in fact mean for the poem to ironically describe his stance as a wise and holy judgement on the "Anime as a medium" matter.

where one of his love interests (the one he got pregnant then publically dumped) stabs him to death, only for his other love interest (the one he initially hooked up with only to ignore in favour of the other one, causing her to lose her mind, until the other girl got pregnant causing him to go back to the first girl) to go nuts, cut the head off his corpse and keep it in a bag while she murders the other girl.

Yeah. It was that sort of show.

Orihime Inoue from Bleach. She was alright at first, but as the show went on she turned into a weak, pathetic character incapable of action, endangering the entire cast due to her uselessness. I don't just mean weak from a fighting perspective - it would be unfair to expect her to compete on that level - I mean that she is a weak person, personality wise. I have nothing but contempt for her.

Yep me too, I think a couple of episodes all she did was say Ichigo's name a few times and breath heavily...no really. Sasuke from Naruto is almost as annoying but at least we can take solace in him being the bad guy and will hopefully be killed in the future.

Yeah I agree with you there, I hardly noticed them my first time watching it through, but I've watched it through several times over since then and you pick up on them more afterwards. It still hasn't affected my like for the anime at all though, and in-fact maybe I'm the only one to notice them since my mind works that way.
