Hmmm...Realism ruins games for me. Not unrealistic bits.

But a case where unrealism ruined a game?

Mass Effect 1...why couldn't I divide my current squad and save both of them?

Borderlands was destroyed by the fact that after tearing through tens of his loyal bodyguards with barely no effort at all, the guy commanding the other bandits takes clip after clip of ammo to kill since he has leather shoulderpads, or a mohawk.

I know it would have made the game far too easy but the fact that you couldn't kill enemes instantly when shooting them in the head just seemed beyond absurd to me.
I'll meet your "can take a bullet to the face" enemies and raise you "can use a grenade as a pillow" foes.

I don't care how big or tough the dude I'm fighting is, if they can take a grenade-enema and keep shooting all it will ever earn from me is:

WHAT.

I will forever hate the hidius creature that is health regen. Halo started it and from their one we constantly end up haveing to wait for our health to regain, I beleive that a healthbar system can make a game enjoyabl especialy games with stealth and other elements that are ment to have previous actions effect your current situation. Health regeneration is a horribal trend and is screwing some of the best games. (Rumer is Deus ex3 is going to have health regen)
I like the Halo 1 heath system where you have a heath bar and a shield. That was like saying "you can have some of you heath back but you have to earn the rest. My favorite heath system is Resistance: Fall of Man's.

BIOSHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK! because how the fucking hell would ppl in the 1950s figure out both how to change the molecular structure and enable ppl to shoot fire by snapping their fingers and how to put a city the size of manhattan in the middle of the fucking atlantic ocean! But still a beast-ass game. Got bioshock 2 yesterday and its good, but still extremely unrealistic

Assassin's Creed 1. I found it ridiculously funny that you can escape the guards and regenerate synch (I wonder what's so familiar about a roll in the hay?) by hiding in the hay stacks. Oh, and losing the guards, then moments later walking right past them and they won't even recognize you.

Yeah, this one time I was playing this game, and I died, but then suddenly I was alive again and could continue to play! It was so unrealistic, it broke the flow for me.

MW2, because jumping with a anti-material rifle that weighs at least 40 LBS is legit shit.
What gun would that be? The Barret is not used in single. You would be surprised at what people can do.

Sandbox games in general are unrealistic, but the winner by far is Saints Row 2.

It's too unrealistic, and full of gimmicks. It's kinda fun when I haven't played it in 3 months, but even then I get bored within the hour and go back on GTA IV, or San Andreas if I want over the top unrealistic fun.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Fortune, when it actually turned out she was 'Lady Luck' i nearly threw the controller at the screen it was so out of place in a game that usually so neatly explained phenomena like that - even if the technology is years and years off, it was still AN explanation.
Yeah, the original game didn't have any stupid psychic shit. Oh wait...

Well, spontaneous human combustion (aka, conjuring fire with the snap of your fingers) has been reported, but never really confirmed. As for the plasmids that cause mutations to enable such acts, the game cites the Nazi's medical research (of which many were performed, particularly under Dr. Joseph Mengle)as a possible source of the plasmids. I recall that one diary had the memoir of a women who had been experimented on during the Holocaust...

Plus, it's a fictional history with fictional scientific advances. It wasn't trying to be overly realistic, very few games do.

When you're shooting BEES OUT OF YOUR HAND, just shut the hell up and enjoy the game, get outside if you want realism.

It's usually flaws in game logic that ruin a game. I don't think a game has ever struck me as too unrealistic by having flying pigs or whatever :p

The only thing i can think of right now is Uncharted. It sets the game up to be realistic and then BAM spoilers happen. I did kind of like the change after a few minutes though.

Another annoying thing it had was teleporting enemies. You'd solve some ancient puzzle that hasn't been touched for 1000 years and then you'd walk down some secret corridor and find... more soldiers, how the hell did they get down there?
Or even worse after being somewhat excited about solving the puzzle it would just take you to another clearly public part of the island making it all seem pointless.

Halo 3's opening. When Master chief jumps from the ship and lands in Africa.

The fact that he was dead a second ago and is now alive by sheer happenstance wrecked the entire game for me.

FarCry was pretty bad.
"Gee, I have a lot of spare rifle grenades. Maybe I'll use some on these mooks."
(I slot a grenade into my assault rifle, then launch it at a nameless mercenary. It hits him square in the chest)
"That all you got, Carver!?"
"I am going to quit this game now."

Just Cause. Saints Row 2 dosn't have shizzle of some of the crazy stuff you can do on that game.
A Parachute that can be closed and reopened mid flight.
Fall though chopper blades then grab the side and hijack it mid-flight.
A mid-flight jump from one plane to another.

I can't wait for Just Cause 2.
