Any game where you can sit still for 5-10 seconds and Regen all your health after being lethally shot. (Gears of War, MW, ME2.. i'm looking at you!)

I don't see a problem with the elevators.
If anything they are going fast if one were to consider the distance the move in the given time.
And they are far superior to loadingscreens.

Fallout 3: You couldn't send Radiated freaks who WOULDN'T Die from the output of the purifier

Lazy design stupid meaningless ending
This. The game was amazing up until that moment, and it seriously ruined the enjoyment from me. I understand the plot choice of having the protagonist go out in a bout of heroism and glory, but come on. It was ridiculous and ill thought out.

All games are unrealistic.

To me, "realistic game" is an oxymoron.

Need a quick example? Name one "realistic" FPS that allows you to turn your head independently from your torso.
far cry 2.
Only when driving.

If you go want to go by that logic, the Half-Life games and every single FPS that forces you through some sort of rail intro is as "realistic" as Far Cry 2.

Usually how bosses have tons of health. If you're a human or even vaguely humanoid a rocket to the face should be an insta-kill.

Mass Effect 2. The fact that your scan worlds which have colonies on them ,and they have no problem with you sending down probes and stealing all their resources.
I love that game :)

In Bioshock and Bioshock 2, the mere fact that Rapture is still standing astounds me. I can accept that in it's prime it had a big staff of maintenance and engineering crews to keep it going, but given that this is set after the maintenance crews either died or went insane, I have to wonder how much longer it's going to keep going. Especially since Bishock 2 is set a whole ten years after. Ten years under crushing water pressure and surrounded by corrosive sea water - oil rigs with modern equipment need almost constant structural maintenance because of the sea water, so what would something built in the 50's do? The best you see in the games are a few wandering Rosies and Big Daddies sticking rivets in place, but they are not going to be nearly enough.

On the other hand, this does lend to the whole "at any moment, this could all coming crashing down around me" atmosphere that makes the games so enjoyable.

Just Cause. Saints Row 2 dosn't have shizzle of some of the crazy stuff you can do on that game.
A Parachute that can be closed and reopened mid flight.
Fall though chopper blades then grab the side and hijack it mid-flight.
A mid-flight jump from one plane to another.

I can't wait for Just Cause 2.
JC2 is going to be the best game evar.

But bear in mind too much realism can spoil a game and make it unfun. I remember playing Deus (which may or may not have been unrelated to Deux Ex), an FPS where I started out with just a knife, but there was a guy in a hut next to a river that had some useful stuff. He would attack on sight, so I hid in the nearby river until such a time as he would be ripe for ambushing.

But then the game killed me because apparently I got hypothermia from hanging around in the river too long. What the hell?

MW2, because jumping with a anti-material rifle that weighs at least 40 LBS is legit shit.
Or the fact that if you place a silencer on an anti-material rifle.. it seems to take 2 shots..

I'm sorry but they wern't exactly 2 miles away.. ITS A ANTI-MATERIAL RIFLE that shit his your little toe and it will take off your leg..
Especially if you're using Raufoss Mk 211 rounds, that shit hits your little toe and it'll take off your fuckin torso along with everything else!

MW2 the airport mission (Somebody had to say it.) The fact that you couldn't just stop the whole event from happening because you had to "Keep your cover" is just absurd.
That mission had so many plot holes
Your fellow terrorists who are trying to be American have tatoos of hammers and sickles in clear view not to mention two of the ones with the tatoos die, so wouldn't they're bodies be put in autopsy and the tatoos be found.
The airports security is awful, its like pre-9/11 or something there'd be no way you could do that in real life at your average major city airport.
What makes the Russians think that the terrorists are involved directly with the U.S? Even they were American they could have been terrorists who just happened to be American and not involved with the American government

So yeah I'm going to have to go with that.

Games where Astrology is a game mechanic. Sometimes part of JRPG's (I think the Persona games had that) also the Elder Scrolls games and The Sims franchise.
Yeah, I can accept that there are mythical creatures, mystical powers and parallel realities in your fictional world. But that giant sword you're wielding has a infinitely bigger gravitational impact on you than the other planets in the solar system or any star constellations could ever have. And f* you if you implement game characters that won't talk to you or where you can't access their whole dialogue trees if you are of 'incompatible signs'.

That's about it I think.

Actually it's an Anti-Materiel Rifle.
Materiel is like personnel, but supplies and artillery and stuff instead of men. So you're not dissolving material as your version of the name would suggest.
Just thought I'd point that out.

Name either a gameplay mechanic or story element from a game that was so unrealistic that it ruined that part of the game.

EDIT: by unrealistic i mean stuff that just doesn't make any sense at all and causes you to think "well that was really stupid".
Dialogue brought to you by the citizens of Albion:
Hero: *fart* (in general direction of woman)
Woman: I love you, Chicken Chaser. You should give me a ring now.
Hero: *grunts*
