The cane from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on NES. It, literally, did nothing. Most useless weapon ever.

The blades that go on your right arm in Armored Core they had no range and you can barely hit anyone with it was basically having a butter knife strapped to your arm

Zodiac and Clank Zapper/Shocker from Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando. About a million bolts each, low ammo capacity, and low effectiveness.
Yeah, those two certainly qualify. They are both awful.

...In fact, I can't think of anything more useless right now, so they win.

But anyway-
All of the snipers in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
If the scope is pointing 4 feet away from the targets arm, You'll hit them.

But nothing more, nothing less.

Throwing knives in Assassins creed: Brotherhood..
They work but you have to throw 2 of them almost all the time. it gets really annoying.
If you hold down the throw button the knives will kill instantly, and Ezio will throw three knives rather than just one.

I couldn't think of any terrible weapons and I saw some guys mention Pokemon. Dunsparce in Gold and Silver is useless. If you think Magikarp is bad Dunsparce is even worse.

The Rivet Gun from Dead space 2.

Terrible weapon, and what's worse is you paid for this thing.

The BB gun from Fallout 3 it sucks hard
If you take Ghoul Ecology (+5 on headshots, before bonus), Superior Defender (+5 while standing still, or in VATS), Better Criticals (+50% damage on any crit), and get a Sneak Attack Critical headshot, that 4-damage BB is boosted to 108 armour-ignoring damage*. It's enough to one-shot many low-level enemies, and it's hilarious to watch the dramatic VATS replays.

4 base damage + 4 critical + 5 from Ghoul Ecology + 5 from Superior Defender add up to 18. Better Criticals makes it 27, sneak attack X2 bonus makes it 54, headshot X2 bonus makes it 108 damage.

What is the most useless videogame weapon you have ever come across in an RPG, MMO, FPS etc.?
For me that is Single Shotguns in New Vegas.
1) One shot at a time, most likely dead by the time your done reloading.
2) Long reload time for one damn shell.
3) Does jackshit.
The single shotgun is terrible, but long reload time can be exploited if you do it right. If you have enough AP and your partner is Veronica with Ballistic Fist, go ahead and fire the shotgun twice. You'll get the 25% damage resistance bonus from being in VATS for a while while she punches some Deathclaws to death.

Sadly, this is not nearly as effective as in Fallout 3, when that DR bonus was 90%. So yeah, the single shotgun is bad unless you only have 1 weak target.

Speaking of the "Wild Wasteland" Perk, I didn't notice that many changes...

Do you remember what it DID change?
I didn't notice much, and I don't think it changes many encounters. But in Caesar's outpost at Cottonwood cove, I found a piece of graffiti that read:

Game of the Year.

I once took out a minigun-wielding super mutant with nothing but a lead pipe and my BB gun. Needless to say, it took a while.

I would have to say the Hammerburst Semi-Automatic rifle from Gears of war 1 & 2. (except in the gears 3 beta because, IT'S TOO POWERFUL)

TAG Laser from Mechwarrior 4. does no damage and has no real function, other than maybe as a laser sight.

The drumstick in Medievil.

Of course it was a gag weapon but still. Stupid ants...
But they turned enemies into health items, I thought that was useful.
On topic I'd have to say the golden sword from Minecraft. Simply because you don't receive it, you have to make it and gold isn't exactly common. When you do go out of your way to find that gold and make that golden shimmering blade, you find out it's really weak and breaks really fast.

Someone already mentioned the BB gun from fallout 3 so to add to that I will mention the .32 pistol, seriously that thing was weak and useless even at the beginning of the game (using the 10 mm pistol was better as a beginner gun). The hunting rifle was a better use of .32 ammo.

Also the chicken knife from final fantasy 5 (or was it 6?)

For a somewhat useful useless weapon, the Bullseye from Resistance (FOM at least.)

Sure, a 70 round mag, instant reload and insane firing speeds. Too bad you'll never hit anything.

Bullseye tags work well enough though. It's just too useless and too common, although it's better than most others on this list.

M4 in Prototype.

Fists in Doom.

Vanilla Revolver in Metro 2033. It's too slow to bring down mutants and too weak to kill humans and stronger mutants. Mine's got a scope, laser sight, silencer and stock, so it's an ok sniper rifle. But it's useless normally.

Pretty much everything in Bioshock. Pistol has little ammo and slow firing, machine gun can't aim, grenade launcher gets saved for later, crossbow is too slow, chemical thrower has a slow reload... The Shotgun and Wrench were the only useful weapons in the game.
