A good movie is Sunset Boulevard. Old but amazing. Also, The Maltese Falcon. Pretty much anything with Humphrey Bogart, and if you can get it, M. the movie is literally titled "M," but it's so good.
M. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes YESSS!!!

That's one of my all time favorite movies. Fritz Lang is a goddamn genious.

Anywho, I'd recommened....well actually pretty much everthing I was going to say has been mentioned. Oh well. :/

If you can find it, Let the Right One In. It's in Swedish, so I don't know about your affinity for reading subtitles.

Sci-fi/action eh?

From the Sci-Fi and Action genres I would definitely recommend:
The Matrix
Starship Troopers
Star Wars (the original, duh)
Alien
Aliens
Predator
Die Hard
Goldeneye (I forgot how epic that Bond film was)
Terminator
Terminator 2

Those should keep you going. They're all fairly popular and easy to get hold of, that was my main criteria as well as genre so enjoy. There are obviously other films In would recommend you but these I think fit the brief the best.

dfcrackhead, hmm I've never heard of that I will check it out.

sharkinz, I've fairly recently done a whole Star Wars marathon so thats out. Not into star trek reboot (my favorite star trek was DS9 honestly...and I'm not ready to do a marathon of that even. LoR is great but it would be a marathon all by itself....and I think my wife would kill me if I added it heh. Both Hot Fuzz and Tropic Thunder were hillarous and well worth watching again, but sadly I've seen them too recently. And honestly I was happy with just watching V for Vendetta once, I don't think I'll watch it again. It wasn't bad, just.....I don't feel myself wanting to rewatch it...maybe in a few years.

Casmir effect, Not a massive fan of most Vin Disel movies to be honest although I really liked "Find me Guilty" I did like Pitch black better then the later chronicles of Riddick though. I think I'll pass on it for now though but thanks for the suggestion.

Your the second person to suggest RocknRolla I am going to check it out as I have never seen it. Looking up a review of it after this post.

Didn't realize so many other people liked Dark City so much. One of my favorite older sci-fi films and person I liked it better the the matrix to be honest......seen it more times as well. In fact I was almost thinking of adding the original matrix to my list because I've only seen it 2-3 times (seen Dark city 5+ at least.

Might have to give the original Starship troupers another shot. I think I was just let down because it was so different then the book and then the sequal with Neil Patrick Harris in it was lackluster at best so I havn't rewatched it since it came out. With so many recomendations though I might need to give it another shot.

Man on fire was freaking great btw....usually don't like movies like that and didn't expect to really get into it (my wife wanted to see it) but was pleasantly surprised.

I rented Death Race but think we returned it before watching it (somethign else came out). I heard it was a remake, sort of, of deathrace 2000...and that the original was better. I've already been planning on getting the original again (been years since I saw it)...and then maybe get the newer version after that. If I can't get Death race 2000 I'll try and get the new version instead.

Think I saw Hellboy 2...thats the one they go down into the elven city or soemthing like that...army of gold etc...shrug...was forgetable for me I guess since I barely remember it. I usually really like super hero moves but for some reason the Hellboy series didn't stick. *shrug*

If you're looking for a fantasy movie, watch Ink. I can't stress enough how good that movie is.

Other recommendations:
American History X for a drama.
Pan's Labyrinth as a fantasy.
You said you've basically seen a lot of animated films, but if you haven't seen The Iron Giant, you need to, and NOW! :)

Fritz Lang is a truly underrated filmmaker. Glad to find another fan.

Hmm ok Rocknrolla is added to the list, Gerard butler is generally good, not sure how I missed this actually. He rocked in Phantom of the operah in my opinion and really the only movie I didn't really like him in was 300 (wasn't horrid but didn't really play to his strength in my opinion). Thanks for that suggestion everyone.

I almost put the original predator on the list but went with T2 instead. Honestly as much as I love the original predator I have just seen it too many times and have had too many crappy sequels ruin it for me.

M is an interesting suggestion but a bit too old school for this weekend I think. I'll ask my wife (she prefers older movies more then me) but I think we'll stick with others on the list...still great suggestion thanks.

Scheic, We are avoiding any and all subtitles this weekend sorry. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Labrynth rules.....not ready to watch it again but great suggestion. Red Dawn would also be great but I don't thin I have room for the Wolverines this weekend. Still it would rock to watch a Jennefer grey movie before she's on dancing with the stars (my wife loves that show....so maybe if I can't find one of the others I'll pick up Red Dawn instead. Havn't seen it in awhile. Thanks for the suggestion.

Meta 99, I will check that out, thanks.

Man this was a great idea, thanks everyone for making it work so well.

Ok, I watched the trailer for Ink....I can't believe I missed this movie...never even heard of it before. I'm adding it to the list. It looks great:)

Not a fan of Pan's Labrynth btw. It was ok I guess, but it had Nazi's (always a negative for me...just don't like movies with em in it) and while the imagery was good I just felt let down after watching it for some reason. Once was enough for me for sure.

I've seen the Iron Giant btw....I did like it although it's not on the top of my list of animated films:)

As far as Aliens....it's a tradition of mine to only watch Aliens while eating pizza (since I was the first time I watched it) and no pizza this weekend so thats out. Good suggestion though!!

Thanks again everyone....My list is much better already...so many shows on it now that I have not seen before!!

What? Pan's Labyrinth didn't had Nazis. The movie was set in Franco's Spain, it was a fascist regime but no Nazis.

Try out the Resident Evil trilogy. It's deliciously camp and surprisingly fun to watch. My gf and I just blew through the trilogy in one night last weekend, since we're getting amped up for the new Resident Evil to come out.

And Wulfy, might I add that you might want to look into netflix. You could use it for the free month. Because some of the movies you want I've seen are on instant play if you do not mind watching on a computer screen. I'm just suggesting it because it'll cut down on your blockbuster costs.

Ah, sorry about the mistake on Pan's....I guess they were just Nazi like lol.....was close enough for me though.

Yeah I love the Evil dead Trilogy, I envy you though because try as I might I can't get my wife into it *sigh*.

We had netflix first before switching to Blockbuster online. This actually lets us watch more movies. I can watch movies myself on the computer (generally don't like to though) but not with my wife...we have a large HD tv downstairs which is far superior. Blockbuster lets us get just as many movies online as netflix but also trade them in for movies in the store (very nice on weekends). The instant downloads of netflix would be nice solo....but at least till blockbuster goes bankrupt (might be happening from what I hear) I'll stick with my current setup. I get a free video game rental per month as well which I don't mind at all hehe. Only time it gets a bit annoying is when my wife (Linda) takes all week to watch movies that we got from the store like now ...and so I'm left having to actually pay for my rentals *sigh*. Oh well, how often do 3 day weekends come along anyway?

That's very true. But you just brought to my attention that Blockbuster even has online viewing. That's new to me. But whatever works for you! Well if you at least have it you know about the option. So, I guess I have nothing to add at the moment without repeating movies that have been said. Good luck with your movie night!

Robocop: The greatest satire of the past 30 years, that is also a sci-fi action film. Go see it. Now.

Moon: yeah people have already reccomended it but its just that awesome.

Rifftrax: They will improve any bad movie watching experience. Get the one for Twilight, It's awesome!

Thanks Elemenopee:)

Nuqneh1, I liked the original Robocop at least, don't remember the others that much (I remember drugs was a major theme at least in one of them). It certainly has been long enough for me to watch them again. Least I still remember the main characters name was Murphy!!

Yeah, I'm getting Moon. That and Ink are the two new movies (for me) I'm really looking forward to. Light of Day I just want to see because I somehow missed it and Rockenrolla I'm going on peoples recommendations mainly (Although Gerard really hasn't let me down yet).

I looked up Rifftrax and I'll at least check out some exerps on Youtube. I can't imagine having to sit through any of Twilight again (Actually didn't hate the books but the first movie made me slightly Ill and I skipped the second one). I'll give it a shot though, thanks.

Funkiest Monkey,

Loved Total Recall. Decided on going with T2 though instead and figured that was enough Arny for this weekend. I've got 2 Bruce Willis movies in there already, a couple Silvester Stallone movies and T2...so I figure I'm good. Great suggestion though , thank you.
