The primary reason to hide our identity would be if we were being pursued by some of the residents of this sleepy farming village we're in the middle of departing. Considering we've spent our entire lives running behind the scenes and doing odd jobs the idea that our noteriety would suddenly spike through the roof enough to make the agrarian passersby pursue us through the vaccum of space is low indeed. We're not shifting away in the dead of night with the ancient treasure, we're cathcing the bus out of small town nowhere.
The secondary reason to select a ficitious identity would be to surprise boarding ramp guy with a name that would command his respect or otherwise put our avatar into an advantagous position. Selecting the name of a famous general, merchant or scholar might be useful, but he's unlikely to believe us on the spot and, considering we've selected the future to set this, varifying that we aren't who we say we are is likely an easy process. More than that, once the lie has been discovered we will garner suspicion from the crew which will make any covert action we try to accomplish while on board much more difficult.
The last reason to choose a fake name would be to avoid handing over your true name and giving the peron power of over you. But this is the future. Not fantasy. Therefore non applicable. And we don't have a reputation that we would need to worry about as of yet so, again, no harm handing over the name.
The best reason is "for the lulz". This can be accomplished just as well by providing an actuall name.
For all these reason I purport that we should tell him our actual name and avoid parting with valuable and hard earned money in favor of obtaining superflous anonymity.
And the name I propose is Winston Churchull.
