"Quite the chatty bunch, apparently." Brothanar mumbled to himself. The informercial they all just saw made little impression on his expectations. He looked to his side, seeing a small insecure girl who was trying to lighten up the overall mood by asking "So anyone... Want to uh... 'hang out'?"

"Jokes will not keep you alive, lady. Being the biggest bastard will." He responded with his deep voice, which still had a bit of a foreign tongue in it.
"I do appreciate the effort, though."

Damien couldn't help it.
He began to laugh uproariously at the video. "You have got to be kidding me!" he chuckled, when the first batch of laughter had finally ebbed. Oh God, That's too much!" He thought. "Well, that's not very PC. Anyone wanna bet that it was tampered with?" Damien grinned. The ludicrousness simply was too much. He then heard the French girl. He raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You don't wanna be here? Really? And what made you come to that astounding conclusion? No one comes here out of their own volition; they come here because it's better than jail. Or at least, that used to be the case." Damien shrugged, or at least sheugged as well as anyone could in that situation. "As for shouldn't... well, what did you do to come here? Tell the truth, and I might help you out. Don't... And I won't. Simple as that."

"I got drunk, spiked... Attacked two cops and killed one, by accident. The judge had a thing against the French and now I'm here. I shouldn't of been given such a harsh sentence. I'm never gonna get outta here alive, not a gal like me, am I?"
She hung her head low. Everything looked so bleak to her, she had no chance.
"That's the truth, the rock-solid truth."

Noticing that he was being ignored, Nick began to look around again, his eyes settling on the girl sitting across from him, so far she hadn't said a word, but she had the look in her eye of the sort of person you didn't want to start speaking, lest she let slip that she was going to cut your eyes out and feed them to your dog, when the french sounding girl spoke up, sounding more level than before, but still unsure, and was in a conversation with a couple of others, the one called Damien, and the idiot with the goatee, he turned to her and replied "You could make it if you learn fast." He said "By the way, I'm Nick" he introduced himself, reflexively trying to lift a hand in a mock salute, only to be rewarded my the clank of his chains. "And you are?"

Jon listened intently, picking up the moods and nuances of the people around him. Some were only proving their suitability in the place, while others were making an attempt at normality. The French girl was calming down, and seemed surprisingly innocent for the setting. Was she really that naive, or was it a cover for something nastier? You know how it is, he thought to himself, The worst ones seem normal at first...

He was starting to get a feel of the group, he felt, but more info was needed. He kept an ear open, looking for a way to slip in some questions and find out more.

"Aurore, means dawn."
She looked at Nick.
"And I don't... Can't kill. The only reason I'm here is because some idiot doesn't know how to make a drink. Even if I wanted to learn I couldn't, so it might as well of already happened. I might as well be dead, I'd probably be happier too. I'm a lost cause. God couldn't save me now, heading to my unchanging sealed fate like a lamb to the slaughter. I don't even have my lucky beret..."

After thinking for a moment, Nick looked directly at Aurore, and gave a fleeting smile "You'll learn" He said. "The first time a violent act is committed is the trigger for psychopathic tendecies, they say, or at least I think, I only skimmed a couple of books on criminal psychology. You'll do fine Aurore, I promise."
Nick gave another quick, nearly imperceptible smile, and went back to his thoughts. 'She'll get along soon enough, or she'll get dead, and the fact she killed someone in the first place shows she has survival instinct enough to kill someone, so she'll freak out, but come to terms with herself eventually.'

David didn't seem to be paying much attention to the others. Since the video had ended he had mostly been looking downward at nothing in particular and apparently thinking to himself. After a while he eventually opened his mouth in a cautious way. "You know..." He trailed off and started again after a moment. "You know this isn't how they made it sound in the brochures." David didn't sound worried, or even concerned; more like he was just pointing out an unimportant fact.

Damien raised an eyebrow. "You don't know much about the justice system, do you? What you did is called 'aggravated assault.' The judicial system rules quite harshly on those who would harm the peacekeepers." He looked hard at Aurore's eyes. "Well...that seems to be the truth, misguided as it is. You screwed up, nothing more, nothing less." Damien shrugged. "Fine. You kept your end, so I'll keep mine. Stick close to me, with any luck they'll be more worried about the man with spawning knives on him than the little french girl who can't even bring herself to kill- sober, that is." He then heard her despair. He kicked forward, nearly bending the metal in his attempt to get at Aurore. "Don't. Ever. Say that again. If I hear one more damn doom 'n gloom comment like that I'll throw you to the wolves myself. I hate self-pity."

With a sudden ***** all the clamps suddenly retracted back, allowing the 'students' to freely move around the cargo hold. Not that there was much to walk around at, as the windows revealed nothing but blue sky and water.

The TV did flicker back to life though, the number 60 appearing on the screen with a cheerful Ping!

There may have not been much to do but David was clearly going to be the first to do it. Springing out of his seat he stretched his arms and legs wide with a perfectly content smile on his face. "Oh it's so nice to be able to move again."

He quickly made his way over to the window again and began to look out at the horizon. "So I guess we have 60 seconds right?" He said innocently without looking back.

"Sixty seconds until what though?" Asked Nick, climbing out of his seat and stretching his arms before turning 180 degrees to peer out of the window "Because from this window, it looks like sixty seconds until water. Do we have anything to stop us from splattering on impact with the water? Maybe parachutes, hanggliders, plastic bags?" He asked, only half joking. He really wouldn't have been surprised if "Murder High" had been a way of reinsituting the death penalty without the masses knowing. 'Kind of harsh on Aurore though.' he thought, before settling back into his seat, stretched enough and satisfied there wasn't anything more interesting than the rest of the interior behind his head.

Damien began to count as well. "49... 48... 47..." He muttered. He rose out of the seat and stretched. If they were reaching land, he'd be damned if he didn't do it in comfort. "Well, while swimming to shore certainly sounds... interesting, I doubt that's going to happen. Remember, we have the pilot here too. And we know he's not a crook because otherwise we would all be on the way to Puerto Rico or maybe the Caymans in a jailbreak." Damien shrugged. "As effective as just dropping us over the sea in a quiet death penalty would be, it wouldn't frighten the masses to behave, and sooner or later our bodies would wash up on a shore, having not been weighted down, which would launch an investigation. No, if I had to guess, we're right above the island, but the angle of the windows doesn't allow us to look straight down." Damien shrugged. "Bear in mind that I'm just guessing here."

Cheryl lifted her hands and gave each wrist a throughout kneading. She seemed to be ignoring the chatter bouncing between the other youths, though at times she would lift her eyes towards one of them when they spoke.

Eventually the girl stood, craned her neck this way and that, ran a hand across her shaved skull, and finally spoke up. Her voice was quiet and level; quite the contrary to what she felt.

"Anyone seen or remember that flick The Condemned?. I'm having flashbacks and I aint so sure if I like it."

Jon smiled, "The one with Jason What's-his-name fighting a bunch of murderers to get off form the death penalty? If this is a remake, I wouldn't be too worried; none of as are armed, and most of aren't even that dangerous." He grinned his half grin, and looked to Damien.

"I think this is just a holding cell" he said, "So the handlers can get clear before they let us loose. However, while we're on the subject of threats, if you ever threaten a lady who means you no harm, I take you apart and put your biomass to better use." The words were spoken softly and calmly, without a hint of bravado; the jilted smile and pale eye only made the impression worse

"Curse you and your logic" Nick smirked, keeping his eye on the countdown '42, 41, 40, 39...' "I think they'll probably restrain us again, give us back a couple of personal items, maybe a lecture, then send us out into the school to be a part of a survival of the fittest experiment with delusions of being as correctional facility" he said, then crossed his outstretched legs in front of him, gave a big yawn and looked at the ceiling, letting his eyes unfocus as he gazed.

Joshua felt more at ease now. He knew who his next would be, and she wasn't far away. The vision had showed it to him. The moment the short purple haired girl with the french accent had opened her mouth it came to him. A dark room, the girl lying naked before him. He had ran his knife into her chest, the vague crowd around him cheering. There was a feeling of freedom.

Then the vision had faded, and the feeling with it. Joshua felt more at ease, however, he had no worries that he couldn't appear as normal in this crowd of murderers and psychopaths.

He shot the girl one discrete look, sporting a slightly bored face. In reality he was giddy with excitement.

"With all due respect, 'Doc' was it?" Joshua decided to enter the conversation. It would certainly make him seem more psychotic if he remained silent, an image he so carelessly established while being strapped up, but was now set to eradicate. The topic was now also slightly relevant, considering his new goal. "I think the ladies you are so keen on guarding may be as well off without your 'protection' as with it. After all, we're all here for a reason, aren't we? And I'm willing to bet yours involved quite a few females, yeah?"

Ninja'd, but doesn't matter a whole lot.

"Probably. I don't really remember who I killed, just that a few were a real ***** to clean up after." Replied Nick, not moving from his position "I probably killed a couple of girls, but it's not like I went after them for their gender. Anyways, I don't shit where I eat, I never killed anyone I'd spoken to, that would have gotten me caught a long time earlier." he addded, idly tracing the buckles of his belt with a finger. "They got desperate towards the end, and interrogated nearly everyone in the school. I suppose I messed up there, and they tied me to all the evidence I left. Shame really, I could have gone on to do much more."

The helicopter suddenly shifted then, making a sharp twist downwards towards the crystal blue waters below them.

As the helicopter veered to the side. the view outside the port windows was suddenly that of a broken city. Tall, crumbling, steel skeletons of once grand buildings filled the windows as the copter flew past the ruins, towards a beach off in the distance.
There were no trees or vegetation of any kind, just allot of dry, cracked dirt. Another thing that was missing in the view was the school, as it was nowhere it sight...

"I'm here for my own reasons," said Jon, his smile unchanged, and if anything getting more friendly and less creepy, "As, I'm sure, are you. This, however, is a matter of principle; I do not like to see people attacked without good cause. I don't want people going psychotic around me if i can help it, a little bit of order will do some good."
