Bugger, just lost my whole post :-( *sigh* Try again. Great topic BTW, it's refreshing from the constant feminism threads. On with the matter at hand:
- Poets of the Fall: Lift [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOxs8-wdufE] - From the 3DMark2005 credits (IIRC). It was mindblowingly good.
- Teddybears: Cobrastyle [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBTSG_Tryhc] & Gnarls Barkley: Gone Daddy Gone [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZbeiXZVWbM] - Both from Forza 2, the one entry in the series I played that hard. Driving one of my modded cars around Maple Valley or Suzuka with these playing....*shivers* gaming bliss.
- Archive: Bullets [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6nbFZtxAL4] - From the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer. This song was a perfect choice by CD Project and I can't wait for this game.
- Drunken Whaler [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlkYz6Il4JM] from Dishonored - At least in the trailers. It literally sends shivers down my spine to hear it. A fusion of grungy rock and a nursery rhyme, I've never heard anything like it before or since, though I'd love to.
- Quiet Riot: Come on Feel the Noise [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2A6ItHeFus] - This, and all the other great 80s tracks from Vice City made it the best GTA game for many years. I think GTA5 may only just beat it for it's technical achievement, if not for the sheer fun, atmosphere and everything else.
- Outcast OST - Outcast from 1999 has a special meaning for me, coming when it did in my life. The score was played by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and is absolutely brilliant.
- Lastly, have to add "Bomb the Bass [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdfqWEqObhM]" from Xenon II. One of the earliest examples of a pumping soundtrack and it's inexorable links with the game.
Honourable mention to the scores from Robin Hood: Men of Sherwood, Once Upon a Knight, Eve Online and Jade Empire.
