I have to agree, with a single real exception.Stilt-Man said:In all honesty, when I read the OP's list, I nodded in agreement. "Lousy rednecks yodeling 'My baby may have split, but these colors don't run'." Then Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson came to mind. I might not like country, but I really like those artists.
Same thing with the other genres listed. On the whole, they make me cringe, but there are definitely exceptions, even if only one or two. That's enough to keep me from completely dismissing a genre. It's a very easy thing to do, but you might miss out on some amazing music somewhere.
I flat-out loathe techno, for the reason that listening to it gives me migraines. Anything with really heavy drum/bass ends me with a major headache, so I hate it. *shrug*
I really, really don't like most kinds of metal, but I have a strange love for Dragonforce.
Pop is annoying and overproduced. Yet I confess to a shameful enjoyment of Lady Gaga (only the first album though... Monster is overproduced and annoying).
And overall, rap as a genre leaves me cold, but I love Eminem, and I am a huge nerdcore fan. (MC Frontalot and YTCracker are a LOT of fun.)
My music collection is eclectic enough that I don't think I leave any overarching genres out (for example, I have metal and pop, but I don't have screamo/thrash or bubblegum/tweenybopper).
