I'm still looking for a style of music. From pop, industrial, japan music, alternative, indie to reagge.
I'm still looking for music who does not get boring. So the question I address to you: what do you recommend - girly, melancholic and romantic? I like Tori Amos, Bjork or... Florence and the Machine :)
I know... it's not typical forum. I mean, I see more boys than girls here ;)
I'm ready for any musical suggestion.

I've always enjoyed a little Imogen Heap.

Also, Welcome to the Escapist!

Stay out of the basement.

Imogen Heap's excellent. I also recommend Anna Nalick, Missy Higgins and Sara Bareilles.

I am sorry but Claude Debussy isnt a romantic composer. He is the impressionist. A good example of a romantic composer would be Franz List.

I thought he overlapped the two; excuse my ignorance.

Sorry but there was no impressionist period in music.

My music history professor and text book would disagree with you completely.

Ane Brun is a must listen, A Temporary Dive and Changing of the Seasons are masterpieces.

Also, check out Promise and the Monster. Only one album, but it's excellent.

Seconding Opeth, get the Damnation album. Wonderful. All of their stuff is top notch apart from their last, but all the other albums are mostly death metal with some mellow tracks in between.

Also, Iron and Wine and Bon Iver.

And Susanne Sundfør - The Brothel. Her first album isn't as good.

I know it's not quite 'girlie' but I do love the ambience they create and the songs feel quite ethereal to a certain degree, and that's Anberlin. I won't embed youtube videos cos there would be too many, so here is a quick list of good songs:

The Unwinding Cable Car
*fin

The rest of their songs are a bit more rocky, so these are probably best to stick to if you do want to give them a go. I apologise in advance if this is not quite what you are after!

Aside from that I think my tastes are a bit too... in your face haha. Whoops! I know a lot of bands with girls in them, but perhaps not 'girly'.

I took your descriptions somewhat liberally with some of these.

Also check out The Robot Ate Me. Couldn't find that many of his songs on youtube. But his albums "They Ate Themselves" and "Carousel Waltz" are great.

90% of these answers are far too manly.

I'll remedy that.

Edit: I realized this post was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. To properly answer your question, you might be interested in Bat for Lashes, Cat Power, and The Knife.
