I was listening to the Frank Zappa album Joe's Garage [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe%27s_Garage] earlier, and a thought came across my mind. "What if music was illegal?"
The thought popped into my mind that music becomes so corrupting to children, the government finds the best course of action is to effectively ban almost all forms of music.
My thought process on what it would be like was sort of like the novel Fahrenheit 451, but with music. You can listen to only accepted forms of music, only "clean" music is allowed. Everything deemed as "unclean" by the government will become banned, and the writer/performer will be arrested. If you listen to the "unclean" forms of music, you will be punished without trial, in some cruel way.
Here's my idea of what the government would deem as "clean" music:
Classical, Baroque, Religious, et cetra.
Here's my idea of the government's idea of "unclean" music:
The Parent's Music Resource Center's "Filthy Fifteen" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parents_Music_Resource_Center#Actions], and other genres/songs similar to that. Rock, pop, rap, et cetra.
Now here's the bit to lead the discussion:
What would you do if music became illegal? Would you just go along listening to the accepted forms of music? Would you fight it? If you were to fight the ban, how would you?
